Long Beach Unified School District shut down its schools Monday, March 16 for the next five weeks to protect public health during the coronavirus.
Nearly 70% of students at LBUSD utilized the school’s reduced-price and free lunch programs.
Wielding a Captain America shield, Principal Scott Fleming of Burbank Elementary School stands outside his school advertising free, take-away breakfast and lunches that are available for children while schools are closed. Any child as old as 18 is welcome to the free food.
Breakfast is available to pick up from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
