Buckwheat improves heart health and reduces the sugar levels in blood.
Buckwheat is also gluten free and non-allergenic seed.
It’s rich in dietary fiber and a source of vegetarian protein.
There are 2 types of buckwheat – raw and roasted. Both are a little different in their flavour when cooked. I decided to make this recipe with raw buckwheat, and others seldom used grains for those who are not sure how to cook a certain seed or grain to see how simple it can be.
Ingredients:
2 cups raw buckwheat, washed and strained (optional for soaking it)
2 – 2½ cups of water
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp garlic powder
¼ tsp onion powder
Pinch of black pepper
Directions:
In a pot add raw buckwheat, water, all the spices and mix.
Bring to boil or cook for about 5-10 minutes, reduce to low and cook for 15 – 20 minutes.
