Broken Rice / Arisi Upma is an easy and quick dish you can make for breakfast or any meal for that matter, with broken rice and other ingredients that typically go into an Upma. Give this dish a try!!

Ingredients List :
1. Broken rice upma – 300 gm
2. Split gram lentil – 100gm
3. Onions – 1
4. Red chili – 3
5. Curry leaves
6. Pepper powder -3 tablespoon
7. Mustard seeds – 2 tablespoon
8. Urad dhal – 2 tablespoon
9. Jeera – 2 tablespoon
10. Salt & Water

Description:
Take a pressure cooker. Add 4 tablespoons of oil. Take 2 tablespoons of mustard seeds and urad dhal and add them to the oil. Saute it in the o until it spatters. Add 2 tablespoon jeera and allow it to spatter. Saute for some time. Add finely minced onions and 4 red chillis. Saute them until it turns translucent. Add some curry leaves and saute them for some more time. Now add split gram lentil(thuvaram paruppu) and saute them for 2 mins. Now add the broken rice and saute for another 2 mins. Now add the measured water. Mix well. Add the pepper and salt. Mix well. Add ghee. Mix well and close the cooker. Keep the pressure cooker for 5 mins on high flame and 5 mins in low flame. Let the pressure release and open the cooker. Mix it well. And serve it hot with coconut chutney.
