Who doesn’t love Toad in the Hole? It can be daunting to make, as the rise factor is easy to get wrong – but even when it doesn’t rise perfectly (it happens sometimes) it’s always delicious. Have a go! The more you do it, the better you’ll get. It’s such a crowd pleaser of a recipe, one to enjoy on a cosy afternoon with mash, gravy and a green veg of your choice – cabbage, peas, or broccoli are all nice. Use 1 or 2 sausages per kid and 2 per adult. It’s flexible though, so adjust accordingly. Your tin – ideally metal – should be roughly 7 x 11 inches for this recipe. A jug is handy too, for pouring batter – but don’t worry, a bowl will work almost as well.
