How To Cook Chinese Cabbage Egg Drop Soup
Chinese Cabbage Soup with Egg Recipe;
Ingredients:
Chinese Cabbage (Half)
1 Onion (chopped)
1 Tomato (chopped)
2 Eggs (Beaten)
3 Cups Water
1 Knorr Cube
1 Tbsp. Soy Sauce
1 Tbsp. Olive/Sesame Oil
Salt & Pepper
Instructions:
*Heat Saucepan with 3 cups of water. Put Onion, Tomato, Bouillon powder or cube & 1 Tbsp. Soy Sauce. Mix well. Cover and bring to a boil.
*Add Chinese Cabbage and cook for 5 minutes.
*Add beaten eggs gradually and mix well. Add 1 Tbsp. Olive/Sesame oil and sprinkle some ground pepper. Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes.
*Sprinkle Spring Onion or Parsley (Optional)
*Serve hot.
The scientific name for Chinese cabbage is Brassica rapa and the Chinese name is 白菜/大白菜. Napa cabbage, the most common variety, is the subspecies pekinensis. It is a large-headed cabbage with firmly packed, pale green leaves that you will usually find next to bok choy in Western supermarkets. More healthy than Western cabbages, Napa cabbage is rich in Vitamin C and other nutrients. It is also a Yin food in Chinese cooking.The name Napa is most likely derived from the Japanese word nappa—meaning leafy green—rather than a location, which is why it’s not capitalized.
