Bread is such a versatile food in the kitchen. And homemade bread can be a huge health asset for your family. But it takes a bit of work to make… don’t let any of those crumbs go to waste!

I originally learned about bread soup from studying the foods that were eaten by Civil War soldiers… It is a great way to make a quick and easy meal, use up the little odds and ends of bread and save time and money!
And yes… I seriously do save the little bits of crust that the kids ( and adults) don’t eat and reuse them… I totally understand if it isn’t your thing, but around here we try not to let anything go to waste!.
Feel free to adjust the ingredients of this quick soup to your liking or what you have on hand. And don’t forget to add in the little bits of unused veggies that are luring around in your fridge or pantry!
No more food waste!
