Jowar Murukku Recipe | Jowar Chakli Healthy Snacks | Savithri’s Kitchen
Ingredients:
Jowar Atta/ Sorghum Flour – 2 Cups
Chawal Ka Atta/ Rice Flour – 1/2 Cup
Red Chili Powder – 3 TSP
Ajwain/ Carom Seeds – 1 TBSP
Salt – To Taste (~ 1 TSP)
Turmeric Powder – 1/2 TSP
Melted Butter – 3 TBSP
Method:
Sieve Sorghum Flour & Rice Flour together. Add the red chili powder, carom seeds (crush a little between hands), salt, turmeric powder and melted butter. Now add approximately 1.5 cups + 2 TBSP hot water and mix well with a spoon. It’ll be hot to touch so let it cool down a little and then mix with hand to a sticky consistency. The mix should be thin enough to be able to pass the chakli machine, but not too thin otherwise it’ll absorb a lot of oil which we don’t want. Once it’s all mixed well, cover it and set it aside till the other preparation is done. Heat oil for frying in a pan. Grease the chakli machine with oil so the mix does not stick to it. You can use any design you like. Now fill the mix into the chakli machine and check if the oil is hot by taking a small pea sized mix and dropping into the oil. If the oil is hot, use the chakli machine to shape the murukku or chakli according to your preference. Fry till golden brown. Remove from oil and let it cool completely. Store in an airtight container and enjoy for a month. If your family is like mine, it’ll be over so fast you will have to make it again in a week!
