COW PEA SALAD / CHOWLI CHAAT / WHITE LOBIA SALAD / CHAAT

Black eyed peas or cow peas is also known as ‘Lobia’ or ‘Chawli’ in Hindi, Bobbarlu or Alasandalu in Telugu ‘Karamani’ in Tamil, Chavli in Marathi and Alasande in Kannada. 
It contains almost all essential vitamins and minerals including vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, C, folic acid, iron, potassium, magnesium, calcium, selenium, sodium, zinc, copper, phosphorus, etc. 

Intake of cowpeas regularly provides you a good level of proteins by which the hair strands are made up. That only means that you can have problem-free hair strands and, thus, ensure proper control over hair fall. It will also make the strands healthy and enhance hair growth.

INGREDIENTS

Boiled lobia  – 1  cup

Finely chopped onion – ½ cup

Finely chopped deseeded tomato – ½ cup

Finely chopped coriander leaves – 3 tbsp

Grated carrot – ¼ cup

Grated beetroot – ¼ cup

Finely chopped green chilli – 1

Chilli pwdr – ¼ tsp

Lemon juice – 2 tbsp or as required

Chaat masala – 1 tsp

Roasted cumin pwdr – ¼ tsp

Salt as per taste

Fine sev for garnish

PREPARATION

Soak ½ cup lobia over night or for 5-6 hrs.
Pressure cook it with little salt till soft and not mushy. [ 2 or 3 – 4 whistles ]  
Drain the excess water and allow it to cool.

METHOD
Mix all the ingredients with the ingredients one by one .
Mix well with clean hands.
Finally add the cooked chowli and mix .
Garnish with fine sev and serve.

NOTES

Masalas and ingredients can be adjusted as per your taste.

For crunch you can add roasted peanut.

For sweetness add honey or jaggery/ dates chutney or fruits
