We walk you through our FAVORITE homemade bread recipe. From how to start your starter, how to feed it, and how to make bread with it!

Starter:
1 cup warm water
1 packet yeast (2.25 teaspoons)
4 TB instant potato flakes
3/4 cup sugar

Dissolve yeast in water. Let stand 5 minutes. Add other ingredients. Cover loosely and let sit at room temperature for 24 hours. Then put in the refrigerator for 5 days. Remove from fridge. Feed with 3/4 cup sugar, 1 cup warm water, and 3 TB potato flakes. Let stand out for 12 hours before making bread or returning to fridge.

Bread:
1 cup starter
1 and 1/2 cup warm water
1 TB salt
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
6 cups bread flour

Mix well to make a stiff dough. Oil dough ball, cover and rise overnight. Punch down. Need briefly. Split into 2 loaves. Cover and rise again 5 hours. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes.
