Hot take: Did you know that you shouldn’t eat whatever you want when you’re trying to lose weight?
Weight gain and weight loss are largely a function of your endocrine system and metabolism. If you’re eating the wrong foods and not optimizing your hormones or metabolism, your longterm success and even your overall health can most likely suffer
Things like grains should be largely off limits. Why? Because they’re insulinogenic, contain anti-nutrients, are sprayed with endocrine disrupting pesticides and herbicides, and they can damage your gut and lead to intestinal permeability. Calories aren’t everything – this stuff matters too.
Restaurant mostly use inferior fats when they cook. The inclusion of these inferior fats, like soybean oil, canola oil, and other refined oils also increases the likelihood of weight gain, even after you’ve lose weight.
Processed food isn’t designed to be healthy either. It’s designed to make money. The more processed something is, the more deplete of micronutrients it is. And eating food that’s fortified with vitamins and minerals can actually do more harm than good.
An example of this is iron overload, which can create a lot of oxidative stress and even prevent fat loss from occuring due to the development of suboptimal thyroid function, which will slow your down your metabolism.
The best and quickest advice I can give is to prioritize nutrient dense whole foods, get rid of processed food, eat more protein, and be careful when eating at Restaurants. And give me a follow if you want to learn more about fat loss
