Now let’s do some makeshift beans on toast because traditionally you don’t use kidney beans for baked beans traditionally you’ll use Great Northern beans but uh some call me a rebel under normal circumstances I would highly encourage that you rinse these beans if you have gastric distress then you definitely

Without looking at the ingredients list and the ingredients list is fairly simple for bread it should be flour water yeast and salt when you buy it fresh from the bakery or when you make your own the problem is that we’re buying breads that are on the shelves

Within the center of the grocery store we want to be buying the bread that’s on the perimeter of the grocery store or that you are getting from the bakery or Ezekiel Bread which is in the freezer because on the perimeter from the bakery section of the grocery store that’s

Baked fresh that’s not not going to have the added oils and it’s not going to have all the preservatives so either go to your grocery store bakery and get a fresh baguette there some french bread or some sourdough that doesn’t have any oil added or any animal products or go

To a local bakery and they should have a French baguette or a sourdough or a rye or a whole wheat that just has flour water yeast and salt for the baked beans now this is going to be a big difference because traditionally what we see with baked beans that we’re getting from the

Grocery store is that they have added sugar oil and animal products you could eat these but you’re getting along with it a lot of junk that’s going to make weight release really difficult and weight maintenance really difficult and is going to make maintaining great health difficult you saw how easy it was

To throw together those baked beans easy peasy and guess what I wasn’t even following a recipe I was just taking what I had around the house so while you could go for convenience in the short term term and by those baked beans that have all the gunk added to them you’re

Inconveniencing yourself in the long term because of the health implications that come from repeated use of substances that aren’t great for us Amal products oil refined white sugar so make your own so that yeah it might take a few more minutes in the current moment but you are saving yourself in the long

Sliced mushrooms we have water chestnuts and those were all just um water sauté there’s no there’s no oil and just I just dowed them or garnished them with uh garlic powder really if you had smell of f it would really smell good and then we have spicy rice uh that’s made with

Mushrooms and tofu tofu beautiful done we are back from healthy parents I’m uploading I’m about to upload the footage that I just shot so that we can talk about some healthy swaps so first looking to the tortilla wraps I showed a great option for PAB bread that doesn’t

Have any oil added to it and that is fantastic another great one that you can buy online that I’ve purchased that I love is by the the Company atoria bakery they have a great op uh for a lavache bread that you can use and I do know the Trader Joe’s around

Here doesn’t sell it but I do know that there’s a Trader Joe’s lavage bread that doesn’t have any oil that people seem to enjoy Ezekiel food for life also has a tortilla that I recommend and you can also use corn tortillas those are fantastic options for wraps all the

Other wraps that you’re going to find at the grocery store are usually very high in fat or they have lard in them so they end up being a very high calorie item so I wouldn’t recommend those then for the fixen as you can see everything that my

Dad had for the fixin was water sauteed vegetables and he’s gotten really great at caramelizing these and in the cookbook in the healthy dad cookbook you can see how exactly he does it but this makes it so flavorful he uses great spices a great combination of spices to

Really make it tasty as opposed to traditionally when people are making wraps or sandwiches is they’ll cook up animal products and cheese and butter and oil very calorically dense so that sure you could have some vegetables in there but if they’re doused in cheese and oil and butter well now it’s become

Very calorically dense so you do want to make sure that you are steaming or baking or water sautéing so that you don’t have a bunch of added oil with calories that bypass satiety also for the Fixins you will notice that we had rice and we had tote tofu now tofu is a

Legume tofu is going to promote satiety it has a good source of fat and protein it’s going to give you that M to your meal so that you you feel like it’s sticking around for a little bit I would definitely recommend this as opposed to something like an animal product where

You you know you throw some chicken in there you throw some steak in there where you’re not getting the fiber that you’d get from having the tofu Tofu for example it can give you that sense of fullness because it does have the protein it does have the fat it hits

That satisfaction Factor but you also have the fiber same with beans or peas whereas when you have animal products you don’t have that fiber which is going to make digestion a little bit more difficult it’s going to make passing bowel movements a little bit more difficult so I would recommend that

Instead of an Animal product you use a something like a tofu or a Tempe or a Satan or a legume chickpeas beans peas lentils to give it that M and make it really sad satisfying without sacrificing fiber and then for the sauce as you can see we had tons of condiments

There we also had the Cava hummus which doesn’t have any oil added this is the Make It or Break It really is the sauce so we had mustard hot sauce my dad’s dressing from The cookbook oilfree hummus these are all great options because they add flavor without adding a

Ton of calories whereas if you take something like a ranch or a thousand island dressing that’s a really heavy dressing that has a lot of calories in it which once again are going to bypass satiety so you want to make sure that you’re choosing condiments I actually

Get the get the normal ones I buy the 19 lb box whatever I’m going to make I make and what I’m not going to make I put them in the freezer they freeze beautifully and then when it’s time for me to cook them I’ll wrap them in

Parchment paper and tin foil and put them right in the oven directly from the freezer at 450 until they’re cooked through I have baked these pucks so I’m going to have these with lettuce don’t knock it till you try it usually when people have baked potatoes or when they

Have french fries we’ll just do a little side by-side comparison here of french fries which are going to be deep fried in tons of oil are going to be very high in fat very high in calories versus when you bake your potatoes on parchment paper you don’t have to add any oil you

Don’t have to add anything just use parchment paper or you can use non-stick tin foil and you just these were just baked at 450 until they looked like they were ready and I can tell that they’re ready um as you can see they they break up nice and easily again don’t knock it
