Is 1,200 calories too low for fat loss today we are going to be covering everything you need to know in terms of very low calorie diets and how to get long-term results when it comes to Fat Loss I’m going to taking you guys through the major side effects

Associated with very low calorie diets and how they affect your hormones and your metabolism if you don’t know me Elizabeth aay Fitness I have my cscs Kinesiology I’m a holistic nutritionist and a gaps practitioner we’re going to dive into the side effects associated with very low calorie diets and I mean

1,200 calories or less the first side effect has to do with leptin it is associated with the feeling of fullness which is satiety and our metabolism when our leptin levels go down which happens um from chronic dieting low calories for longer periods of time it can trigger

Those hunger cues and just a little fun fact guys s days on a low calorie diet your lein levels again that’s our feeling of fullness our satiety controlling our metabolism decreases around 50% the second side effect has to do with our thyroid hormones specifically our T3 and T4 so our thyroid hormones

Are T3 and T4 these stimulate our basil metabolic rate by increasing our fat cell mobilization so what happened okay guys low calorie diets those lower our thyroid stimulating hormone lower our T3 and T4 and remember all of these have to do with regulating our metabolism and what happens we start

Getting that low energy because of our thyroid hormones going down now the third side effect of very low calorie diets has to do with our cortisol levels and stay with me guys because I’m going to dive into how to correct all of these so that you’re able to get long-term

Result results when it comes to Fat Loss so wait for that so cortisol levels this is our stress response when you are chronically stressed out and stress is not just mental it also comes from being on low calories from doing excessive amounts of cardio from the mental stress

As well also when you’re on less calories you may not be getting the best sleep then your stress goes up so all of these put you into that state of chronic stress okay chronic stress can cause your body to retain water it could lower your lepin sensitivity and ultimately

Guys it could actually increase your food cravings and you may not be seeing that number on the scale change because now you’re retaining water you’re not sleeping now you’re stressed out and then you’re not seeing the changes in your physique so you’re like what am I

Doing wrong and then you get even more stressed out hence you think you hit a fat loss Plateau before we move into the solutions I want to take you guys through a few more side effects of very low calorie diets and these are reasons why you may hit a fat loss Plateau so

Another one has to do with our neat this is our non-exercise activity thermogenesis so our body is very smart if you are consuming very low calories guys your body’s metabolism it adapts to that your body you may not even know it you may start taking shortcuts you may

Be fidgeting less throughout the day you may be moving your body less you may realize that you’re keeping your water at your desk versus going to the kitchen and filling it up throughout the day these little things this non-exercise activity thermogenesis it adds up to a lot of your calories burnt throughout

The day so if you’re consuming less calories and our neat starts to go down our movement then what happens you may be burning less calories throughout the day you may think you need to lower your calories more and increase your cardio more and you’re actually working harder

Not smarter and you’re not going to see those results two more things guys it is true as you are on a lower calorie diet your body’s metabolism does adapt to that if you start off too low too fast then your body adapts to it where do you go from there not long-term sustainable

Results and then another one thing I do want to mention before I go into the solutions is carbohydrates a lot of you guys going on these low carb diets you have to realize that for every one gram of carbohydrate your body holds on to 3

To six grams of water it does not do that with fats and protein so if you’re cutting a lot of carbs very fast you may lose a couple pounds of water retention in that first week and then think you hit a plateau and then when you add the
