What I’m Cooking in France, Episode 1 🇫🇷 CROQUE MADAME. Just 4 ingredients!

A croque madame is a staple on any French cafe menu. Think of it as the best, fanciest grilled ham and cheese sandwich of your life, but better because you know, it’s FRENCH.

YOU’LL NEED:
-Bread
-Shredded gruyere, comte, or similar melty, nutty cheese
-Thinly sliced ham
-Egg
-Butter, for cooking
-Dijon mustard (optional)

For each sandwich, spread the bread with mustard, then fill with ham and cheese. Generously butter the outsides. Toast low and slow. Transfer to a foil-lined sheet pan and top with more cheese (don’t be shy). Bake at 400°F until the cheese is good and melty. Top with a runny fried egg, salt, and pepper. ENJOY!
