07:20 Why you should avoid Jiffy mix

Why you should avoid making cornbread with Jiffy mix:

Jiffy cornbread mix, like many processed foods, contains certain additives and preservatives to prolong its shelf life and maintain its flavor and texture. One such additive is Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT), which is used as a preservative to prevent oils in foods from oxidizing and becoming rancid.

Some research has linked BHT to potential carcinogenic effects, particularly in high doses or with prolonged exposure. Additionally, BHT has been associated with other health issues such as allergic reactions and hormone disruption in some animal studies.

Ways to enjoy this healthy cornbread recipe: (variations to try)

There are numerous ways to enjoy cornbread! Here are some ideas:

Classic Cornbread: Enjoy it warm out of the oven with a pat of butter and a drizzle of honey. The combination of savory and sweet is irresistible.
Cornbread with Chili: Serve cornbread alongside a bowl of hearty chili. The contrast of the spicy chili with the slightly sweet cornbread is a comforting and delicious combination.
Cornbread Muffins: Bake cornbread batter in muffin tins for individual-sized servings that are perfect for on-the-go snacking or packing in lunchboxes.
Cornbread Toppings: Get creative with toppings! Try spreading avocado or cream cheese on slices of cornbread, or topping it with salsa, cheese, or even bacon for a savory treat.
Cornbread Waffles: Use cornbread batter in a waffle iron to make savory waffles that are perfect for topping with fried chicken, barbecue sauce, or even a fried egg for a unique twist on breakfast or brunch.
Cornbread Panzanella: Cube cornbread and toss it with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and your favorite vinaigrette dressing for a refreshing and summery cornbread panzanella salad.
Whether you prefer it sweet or savory, as a side dish or the main event, there’s a way to enjoy cornbread for every occasion!

hello and welcome I’m Anette reader from
the biblical nutritionist. comom and
today we’re going to make cornbread
freshly milled highly nutritious
cornbread and there are three reasons
why I want you to start considering
making your own
[Music]
cornbread well before we get started I
just want to say thank you for letting
me share with you God’s recipe for
excellent health that always includes
three ingredients helping you be
confident in the kitchen confident with
your health and most importantly
confident in understanding how much God
loves you well today’s recipe is from a
friend of mine Sue Becker they have a
company called bread Beckers I’ll put a
link to their company down below but she
has the very best cornbread recipe ever
and instead of trying to improve on it
on my own I decided to use her recipe so
today we’re going to go ahead and get
started with 34 of a cup of freshly
milled flour
to this we’re going to add 3/4 of a cup
of freshly milled corn now let me just
say you want to have fully dried corn I
buy my corn from companies from co-ops
different companies I’ll put a link down
below to the three companies that I buy
all of my grains from and you can check
that out for yourself so if you’re
growing the corn yourself it has to be
really clean like perfectly clean and
perfectly dry so consider that before
Milling then you need to have a good
meal such as the mack Mill to Mill your
corn and I have white corn in my stash
and I have yellow corn so obviously I’m
using yellow corn for my cornbread
because that’s the color people expect
now when I’m Milling corn for grits I
use white cuz people expect white so we
have to keep colors in our mind so
people expect a certain flavor well
we’re going to challenge the flavor by
making them so much better but we still
want to keep the color so go ahead and
use your Mill and grind your corn I
actually make mine into a very fine
powder this is so this is so powdery
it’s incredible you can make yours a
little bit more gritty I even do my
grits a very fine powder and it tastes
amazing so go ahead and do that now I’m
going to use my fisy which is a fork and
a whisk blend this up I’m going to add
my salt 3/4 of a teaspoon of salt 2 and
1/2 taspo of baking powder I’m going to
blend that up really
well okay then I’m going to add 3/4 of a
cup of milk the milk can be any flavor
you want buttermilk whole milk nut milk
whatever you desire to this I’m going to
add one
egg and remember I prefer we get our
eggs from a farmer that you
know it’s really difficult to prove what
you buy in the store is actually as good
as what you want I’m going to add 2
tablespoons of
honey you can add less you can go
without honey if you were making this
during the Daniel Fast you could go
without the egg or the honey it may be a
little bit more crumbly but it would
still be very
delicious now it also calls for two
tablespoons 2 to three tablespoons of
melted butter so I’m going to go ahead
and pour that in as well
that helps with giving us those crispy
edges that taste so good and having an
oil in your baked goods just makes them
more delicious and more more cake
light you could use 100% cornmeal for
this you don’t have to use a flour now
today I’m using a hard white you can use
a soft white spelt cimo you could use a
buckwheat it’s not quite won’t quite
make the cake mixture as you want but
it’ll still taste really good all right
that’s it we have our batter
[Music]
now today I’m going to use three
different pants most people will just go
ahead and use an iron skillet and that’s
perfectly fine and it’s actually is your
most traditional cornbread I’m going to
use this pan from USA pans it’s actually
Square because this is a Brownie Bite
pan I have always wanted to have the USA
pans in and finally I was just able to
go ahead and get the whole collection
and they are my favorite pans of all
time so I’m just going to lightly
butter one row of that pan because I
want to show you two other pans this is
a muffin top pan so just you can kind of
see it’s super flat and I’m going to go
ahead and
just just lightly grease these with the
butter bowl that I had the melted butter
in and it’s okay if you have too much
it’ll just go into the flavor and then
I’m going to make some mini muffins very
similar to the brownie bites you could
make regular muffins you can make large
muffins you can make an 8 by8 pan and
then as I said you could use your iron
skillet so I’m going to do one row of
these now the easiest way I have for
making just nice easy uniform muffins is
just using my
dough my dough
Scoops super fast super
easy and it’s just more fun to cook when
we have fun tools to work with which is
why I love the fisy I have it in my
pomegranate color that just is just
always reminds me of the pomegranate
tree in
Israel anytime I have a reminder of
Israel is just another reason to say
thank you Lord for all that you’ve given
us okay and then we have our muffin tops
and this will totally flatten out as it
[Applause]
bakes now if you are in the time period
of the Feast of unleavened bread baking
powder is a leavening agent so you would
not want to make these during the Feast
of UNL bread you may think oh there’s no
use so I can do that no baking powder is
11 agent so you would want to
pass all right there we go me got a
little bit of batter left here just
going to add it to this Muffin
Top it’ll spread out when it bakes and
just be
perfect but I don’t like wasting any
batter these are going to bake at 425
for now typically it’s 25 minutes but
that’s for a 8 by8 pan or even your
Skillet that is not for these little
pieces so these are going to bake much
faster probably within 10 minutes so
keep an eye on your oven unless you’re
doing the big
[Music]
pan well our muffins are out of the oven
and I can’t wait for you to try them but
first of all I want to point out please
don’t buy this ever ever again no
because the ingredients on this label
are not going to help you with your
health the BHT that’s in this product is
a preservative that is very carcinogenic
it’s been given the quote grass approval
but it’s not healthy for you I do not
want you to ever ever ever buy this box
again that is why I’m doing this video I
saw this box in the store and I said
I’ve got to teach you how to make
delicious nutritious economical
cornbread for yourself these are so they
smell so good I can’t wait for you to
try the recipe with the cost of
groceries getting so high I know that
it’s a strain on every family but when
we have grain stored up in our house
when we have grain that we can pull out
on a moment’s notice Mill it bake it
enjoy it we are doing so much better for
our family and even though this is it’s
not as cheap as it used to be it used to
just be cheap junk food now it’s
expensive junk food this is still more
nutritious and economical I just I may
seem a little passionate because I am I
really want to help you to protect your
health so please go ahead and enjoy this
see how they have a nice Brown coating
on the bottom that is a perfect muffin
tub so I hate using that term sometimes
but you get what I mean do whatever you
want make them into muffins make them
into bread make them in your Skillet
whatever they’re nutritious I can’t wait
for you to try it so so thanks for
letting me share this with you and to
share God’s recipe for excellent health
and if you haven’t already please check
out our Biblical nutrition Academy where
we have numerous courses for you to take
at your own pace to understand for
yourself God’s recipe for excellent
Health thanks for watching
