thank you for this video making yourself
a priority I am Denise it is Wednesday
wisdom for weight loss I thought I’d
throw Wednesday wisdom here today
because I won’t be doing a vlog this
week because Timmy is having oral
surgery and have two wisdom teeth
removed today it’s going to be too hard
to vlog I’m going to be honest I don’t
know how what today and tomorrow is
going to bring so the mom hat goes on
and the YouTube hat goes on the side cuz
that’s how I roll I can’t worry about a
video to film so I’m thought you know
what we’ll do Wednesday wisom he’s still
sleeping so I could film a quick
Wednesday wisom is a video I’ve been
wanting to get together with you guys
with just to go over like like a kind of
I love doing like almost like coffee
chat we should call it coffee chat I
have though I have
tea and my dog love is a four-legged
word
isn’t it though
mhm so what I want to talk about is I’ve
been doing calories and macros for about
almost two months I guess since sometime
in March so we’re in May and what I’ve
learned it’s been it’s an interesting um
you
know it is a learning curve and I what I
want to say is when you do something
different like like say you want on
white Watchers and you want to do low
carb you want to do macros you want to
do whatever you want to do do it see my
problem was I took my Weight Watchers
mentality into that and my Weight
Watchers
lifestyle and I don’t know if you can
again I’m only speaking from my
experience let’s put that out there you
may have a different experience and
that’s fantastic but I’m just telling
you this is my experience my opinion
here um I just felt like I took too much
of my Weight Watchers lifestyle into it
and I don’t think it works worked for me
for a while because I was having this
disconnect because of counting points
you think of food in a different way you
know versus calories and macros I wasn’t
used to looking at the protein and the
fiber and the the fat and the what was
that I was looking at
carbs and it’s very eye Awakening when
you start looking at that you’re like I
used to eat that geez maybe that was why
I and then I I then you get to the
mentality where wow I everything’s on
the menu now we watch says that but the
reality we know it’s not because you’re
not going to pay nine points for
something that’s 110 calories you’re
just not going to do it or you’re going
to do it and then not eat properly
because if you only get 23 points a day
and you’ve had nine for something that’s
150 calories and you’re under the
mentality if I don’t eat my
weeklys there’s a problem which they
need to really work on that that
disconnect so but now here you’re
counting calories and you can have that
thing that was nine points and then you
start things like well I could fit that
Starbucks drink in it’s only 220
calories I got that but the ridiculous
amount of sugar in that drink you know
it kind of set me up for kind of what I
would call I have a really and I’ve said
this before I have a very bad problem
with sugar per se only because I feel
like it what makes me want more sugar
when I have it it’s almost like a draw
and that was what I want I want a Weight
Watchers back in I want to say Points
Plus 2014 2013 I started with coconut
sugar I switched to and then monk fruit
came around and um everybody was using
the um what is that big one that
everybody was using I don’t like um you
can get it um at the regular grocery
store it’s that big Name Escapes me
right now a little pop it in my head um
that one I didn’t like uh I just didn’t
like anything about it so I stuck well
and then I met you know Kim she was um
simply filling in ktown girl on her
phone I met her and she told me all
about Lano monk fruit so I’m like is it
good she goes oh yeah so I SW oh my God
she was right I’m like it’s really good
so I get swerve I told you pop in my
head I did not care for any of the
swerve I didn’t feel like it was sweet
enough like if you’re sing me cup for
cup and I can’t taste it it’s not cup
for cup for me so I had to use so much
swerve to give me the taste of sugar but
the lantto it was cup for cup and it was
fantastic so I’ve been you know lantto
and now I’m not too I like the travilla
brand as well sweet complete so I kind
of do both but thank you Kim for getting
me cuz I was like what we going to do
here
but so having made that switch many
years ago cuz I knew I’m a sweet eater
hi I’m Denise I’m a sweet eater nice to
meet you that’s my Achilles heel we all
have what’s our Achilles seal some
people it’s chips and salt some people
it’s like ice cream like we always talk
about like the creamies and stuff like
that and you I’m like I don’t I don’t
eat ice cream enough or crave ice cream
enough to sit there and invest in the
Camy that’s why I got the little one
from the dash cuz when I feel like it
which I can’t tell you the last time I
had one I’m I I wasn’t spending hundreds
of dollars on something I knew I wasn’t
going to get used out of and I know know
you
so that was you know and people will say
well your body thinks it’s sugar my
doctor says will you know why your body
thinks it’s sugar and before I even go
into that remember you could find a
doctor you could find a a thing online
that says anything you you wanted to say
like somebody read me out about
something about there’s no such thing of
sugar addiction I’m like yes there is no
there’s not and and and I said you can
get you can get a report to back up
anything you feel like it there’s
millions of them online so you believe
what you want and that’s the thing if it
works for you it works for you so you
know be good with that you believe what
you want to believe and that’s your your
choice but your body believes it’s sugar
because you think it’s sugar cuz it
tastes like sugar so if you if it looks
like a duck and quacks like a duck it’s
a duck so for some people it doesn’t
work cuz it’s again most of this journey
is is is our you know our mindset and
our mental capacity for things and if
you think like oh it’s zero points it’s
zero calories I’m going to have twice as
much I don’t I treat it like regular
sugar what I have two
Donuts just because I can doesn’t mean I
should see there’s like a like I think
we get away with that because like zero
point
Foods there’s zero points so I’m going
to have more would you have more than
two eggs normally no so why should you
have three because there’re zero points
you shouldn’t always stick to serving
sizes so for me I always kept M fruit as
sugar in my head and knew that I
couldn’t overdo it so for me my body
doesn’t I don’t crave it because I know
it’s not sugar and I don’t treat it like
it is if that makes any
sense but those things are just
different things you know in in the
aspect of calorie counting you know you
know you tend to eat a little bit more
unclean per se or junky because you have
the calories for it you can’t fit in
junk food on Weight Watchers you don’t
have enough points for it you don’t and
we all know nobody’s going into those
weekly points we know that you should
for some things but you’d run out if you
did that every day you’d run out
obviously so yeah you tend to eat more
crap because because you can fit it in
easier on calories than you can on
Weight Watchers Weight Watchers are very
lowfat plan low sugar so things that are
high in sugar high in fat or high in
points so you tend not to gravitate
towards them so but when you’re on
calories you have you know I have right
now they actually up my calories I have
close to 1,500 calories that’s a lot
when you really break it down because I
eat the same I didn’t really change the
way I ate you know I didn’t sit there
well you know I’m counting calories I’m
going to have more steak we don’t have
big steak eaters number one it would
cost me a fortune to feed these boys
steak you know we do have ground beef we
have Burgers you know we have occasional
steak nice little London broy we have
that stuff but should I eat it more
because I count calories I can fit it in
more no I like you know the low fat is
what I choose to follow based on my
family history my there’s heart disease
in my family so I tend to go for more
chicken more fish more turkey we do have
the occasional beef like I said we have
a London Bo when the weather gets nice
and we’re grilling there’s going to be a
London Grill on girl so we definitely do
but not you know several days a week and
that’s something that I choose and you
should be able to choose what you you
know you want to use your lifestyle for
so but to me I just couldn’t go into
calories and macros with the Weight
Watchers mindset and it’s taken me a few
weeks to really figure out what that was
I mean like I said I was going to
Starbucks couple two three days a week
and I realized why am I like craving
sweets all of a sudden I’m I’m losing
using weight cuz I was um then I
realized cuz you’re eating sugar and for
some people it doesn’t happen I’m not
saying this happens to everybody I’m
just telling what’s happening to me and
for me when I have that real sugar it
just it’s like a drug to me and it’s
like and the londra does not do that for
me now if it does it for you I I like I
said we’re all different I’m just giving
you my perspective and it just was not
working so I stopped the Starbucks
drinks the lavender MO Es are a thing of
my past I did get some lavender starup
to make my own here at home so my
lavender matches went from 20 almost 80
calories to like
70 maybe 80 oo there’s a big difference
so again I I I think it was just like I
said something new you just jump right
in you think oo I can do this oo I can
do that you know and the thing of Weight
Watchers is you get penalized for like I
know people that are on plant-based
diets if you’re on a plant-based diet
Weight Watchers is not the plan for you
because you’re going to be running out
of points quickly and I know the problem
with that is the mentally looking at not
having the points for some people like
getting that blue dot it’s a thing so I
I I think if you’re doing plant-based
you shouldn’t be following Weight
Watchers I maybe you’re using Weight
Watchers for the meeting and the
accountability of being weighed that’s
that’s a whole different animal but if
you’re looking at the plant I just don’t
think it gels and I think gets more
frustrating more than anything when
you’re seeing you’re out of points by
lunch because
plant-based and plant-based is healthy
it’s it’s natural it’s plant-based so
I’m not sitting there telling you
plant-based is bad I’m just saying I
don’t think plant-based and Weight
Watchers kind of drives like Whole Foods
is another one Whole Foods and Weight
Watchers doesn’t drive points are too
high for Whole Foods they’re not low fat
they’re whole fats so again you’re being
penalized should that be the plan for
you if you’re a Whole Foods person it
shouldn’t it’s you’re always going to be
frustrated and when you get frustrated
and you you know it’s just you you tend
not to stay with it and that’s the thing
we want to mentally be relaxed we want
to mentally be focused we want to
mentally enjoy it you know if you if
you’re not you’re you’re frustrating
through it don’t do it I mean I feel
like we love Weight Watchers Weight
Watchers been a part of our lives for so
long that it’s our safe spot and I will
tell you lots of people leave and lots
of people go back cuz that’s the safety
net and I will tell you there’s nothing
wrong with that there’s nothing wrong
with like say going to a plant-based
diet for a while and then maybe going
back to Weight Watchers and try to
incorporate some of the things I don’t
think you can do a whole 100% if you’re
going to be count points but definitely
there’s no shame in going back if that’s
what you feel comfortable with if that’s
what you want to do but remember Weight
Watchers is a lowfat diet lifestyle so
if you’re eating whole fats it’s this
it’s you’re going to have issues now
unless unless they change the algorithm
and maybe allow cuz I
personally my personal opinion I like
the smart points algorithm versus the
algorithm now which is what I call the
personal points algorithm because when
personal points came this algorithm came
that’s they still use yeah not a fan I
was a fan of the smart points it took me
a while to be a fan of that CU I was
coming from Points Plus but I did
eventually you know get in my groove and
I lost my 116 pounds on it so it worked
for me and it’s just you know I feel
like it just doesn’t work for some some
ways that we want to eat so I feel like
you have to find the way that you want
to eat and then find the plan that
matches it and like I said and there’s
no shame on saying hey you know I’m
going to take a break from White rers
and try this there’s no there’s no harm
in that because guess what they’ll
always take you back they will you
they’ll never going to be like well you
quit Denise you’re not allowed back and
I’ve been to my meetings like if if
you’re a meeting person I’ve always been
welcome back the leaders they’re always
people that they’re not going to be like
oh look she’s coming back she realized
what worked they’re not like that
they’re happy to see you so there’s
nothing wrong in taking a break from
something and I want to bring this to my
people who multi multi track on multiple
apps why if you’re doing more than one
app then the one app you’re doing isn’t
working right well I want to see
both I think it’s more frustrating and
more confusing to have three different
two to three different different apps
because they’re all telling you
something different and for me that
would be very frustrated that would be
very confusing well I don’t know well
this app say I
don’t wasting all that time pick one do
it for a month see how you fair if
you’re not happy with the results then
try the other one but I feel like when
you’re doing multiple things it’s just
more confusion than it is doing you any
good so I say pick one whatever one you
feel if it’s Weight Watchers it’s Weight
Watches if it’s calories it’s calories
if you want to do low carb do low carb
do one I don’t feel like you everybody
wants to make their lifestyle fit into
Weight Watchers like well I’m going to
do low carbon Weight Watchers I’m going
to do Whole Food Zone Weight Watchers
I’m going to do plant-based on Weight
Watchers it’s not that’s not made for
that so I feel like we get more
frustrated trying to make it what we
want it to be rather than what it is
it’s a lowfat diet if you’re not going
to do a low fat don’t do Weight Watchers
that’s just all I’m saying and I’m not
trying to insult anybody I’m just trying
to like give you some clarity that you
know you’re like going give you a light
bulb moment like wow yeah
pick whatever you want to follow and you
could sit there and know I’m all for
like hey I’m going to do low carb for a
few months I’m going to do weight watch
or I’ll go do macros and calories for a
few months there’s nothing wrong with
doing that but just do the one each time
and just see how it goes I feel like we
just put way too much pressure on
ourselves and it it leads to more
confusion than anything else and
frustration and confusion and
frustration are the two main reasons
people stop tracking and people stop
doing because it’s like oh my God it’s
ma is this to eat because it is we make
it harder than it has to
be it’s in a nutshell we do we make it
harder than it has to
be so the takea away from this video is
find what you want to do and do it and
stop and the only reason I share weight
watch points is for the people that are
own Weight Watchers I’m not counting
Weight Watcher points I’m not I just put
it in I give it to you for the people
that are following so they get an idea
of what my plate is on points but I’m
not tracking my I have no idea what I
use in a Day none because I’m on
tracking them I am doing the calories
and macaros right
now with that being said will I continue
to do that well for right now I am but I
my hope I hope hope is to find a good
sweet spot and then bring myself cuz I
want to go back to my goal and be back
to Lifetime and I really want to track
the rest of my life on because it’s just
much easier and we do things that are
easy
we do so that to me and I know it’s
easier I’ll be the first one to sit tell
you that weight washers is an easier PL
to track now I’m also not a fan of the
zero point foods and I I was I wasn’t in
the beginning when we when I first
joined and it was
um freestyle when I went back I left
smart points I came back it was
freestyle I’m like going your fish is
youro chicken eggs like I did yogurt
these are things I always counted and it
was like and I was so afraid that I was
going to gain weight so I but one thing
I did do was I kept to
portions I always made sure that I
didn’t free eat yogurt I always weighed
and measured it I always had if I’m
going to have ex I’m going to be two not
going what time I’d ever have three eggs
if I’m at a diner and it’s an omelette
and they give you a three egg omelette
but I wouldn’t at home be eating three
eggs cuz I wouldn’t normally eat three
eggs so I was very focused on not to
over abuse it not to sit there and like
free eat shrimp I can just have a pound
of them no you can’t nor should you so I
really feel and maybe Weight Watcher’s
Next plan if I don’t know I haven’t
heard anything if you had let me know
cuz I’ve heard nothing but maybe we’ll
have more accountability for the Zer
Point Foods I feel like if you’re if
you’re talking about health and wellness
and lifestyle you have to have
accountability for everything there’s
nothing that’s
free nothing should be free you know you
have I hi I’m Denise I have a problem
with weight I have a problem with
portions I don’t give me something when
they say you don’t have to weigh and
measure them you need to know what
you’re eating how do you lose weight if
you don’t know what you’re
eating you can’t and that’s why I think
a lot of the people fell off with
freestyle because there was no structure
and they’re like oh these are Zer Point
F eat what you want no tracking no
measuring in theory what a great idea
you know makes life a lot easier not
having to track it not having to weigh
and measure it but the reality is I have
a problem with food H days have a
problem with food I need to know what
I’m eating I just be able to know that
I’m having the correct portion size by
knowing what I’m eating so that’s always
Food For Thought very food for thought
I’m just looking at my notes
here okay my famous line that I have WR
just because you can doesn’t mean you
should that’s a big one just because I
could fit in a junior siiz dress doesn’t
mean I should be wearing it at 58 years
old
made for a girl made for a young girl
not for me you know because I can fit
into the you
know but you know like I said Weight
Watchers is a lowfat diet um and I don’t
mind that I really don’t because like I
said heart disease runs in my family and
when you have heart disease you’d have
low fat food I would never and I will
say this out loud I’m not a fan of the
no fat I I’ve went to 1% cottage cheese
even when I was tracking Weight Watchers
I just didn’t think the the fat free was
worth it for me I’m like you know what
this is a better option and it only cost
me a point maybe two depending on how
much I ate and that wasn’t tragic you
know and the calorie difference between
the fat free and the 1% is like 15 to 20
at best so you’re not talking 100
calorie difference so you have to think
about that and oh fat free cheese is the
worst
ever yeah you have to like and your food
has to look delicious and when it looks
plastic I’m not eating that or should I
so yeah I do love fat dairies I I don’t
mind the cheeses like I said I don’t
mind the the the yogurts I do do the
fat-free fire I do enjoy that um I said
depend on the brand all brands are on
created equal let’s put that out there
but I hope this sheds some light on like
switching up a plan and yeah you have to
embrace the plan you switch to try not
to take your baggage from your other
plant into this new plan because it’s
just it’s more stress than anything like
research the plan you’re doing and find
out what foods gel and just because you
could eat that would you eat that
normally no would I be eating three
Starbucks a week should I be having
three Starbucks a week I was cuz it well
was the you know lavender
matcha it’s good it’s something you
should treat yourself to if you like
matcha it’s really
good it is I will have one again I just
not going to have three a week that’s
just it’s all I can yeah I’m wondering
why am I like going crazy and then I sat
there and I was getting the um at Duncan
they have these um they’re called
charged energy drinks they’re fizzy and
they’re really good but I would get the
um the refreshers which are only
120 calories I think for a medium then
the charged ones were another 100
calories on top of that I didn’t realize
that I thought and that was another
thing I was having two of them a week I
was having five
drinks and I tried to
I because like I said on paper I was
fine it was in here and in there was not
and this journey comes from a good good
mindset and they did that on the um the
the Oprah special with Weight Watchers
it were touching on it but I felt there
was a little bit of an undertone for
weight loss drugs and like I said if you
need it that that’s your choice that’s
not mine to make but I just felt like
that was like almost a sales pitch under
that but that’s just me so that’s going
to be I’m not going to keep this too
long and I hope you enjoy this video and
I hope it helps I hope it kind of puts
your mind into perspective because you
know you have to go in with a clear
conscience and mindset to something
different and like I said if if Weight
Watchers is your jam it’s your jam I’m
not here to slam anybody’s Jam if you
love low carbon whatever you do follow
that
plan that was a I had a challenge a
couple of summers ago we should do it
again maybe we will just follow your
plan we don’t follow our plan we could
we all we all could be on eight
different plans like each eight persons
could be on a different plan and none of
us are following any of them whatever
plan you choose follow it but follow it
correctly and with with a new mindset
and don’t be bringing baggage from your
other plan
find out what works in that plan find
out you know the bonuses of that plan
you have to like you know you have to
tailor that you to that plan not that
plan to you that’s a big one yep
sometimes change is necessary it is
we’re all working progress we work in
