what is going on guys Joey Suggs here welcome to today’s video we’re in the car we’re at a grocery store so I can’t think of a better way to welcome you to road to rip episode number nine the last Road RP episode was a Costco Hall with some recipes thrown in there I think you guys really enjoyed that so we’re going to run it back but this time with a grocery store more specifically my Publix uh but most things I buy in here are just name brand things that you can pretty much find at any grocery store and this kind of goes without saying but this deep now episode 9 of road to rib diet starting to get a little bit stricter a little bit stricter and I’m trying to keep it as low calorie as possible while still getting the protein in so in case you didn’t weren’t already aware it’s going to be a low calorie and high protein grocery haul happen to be BOGO uh and I’ve been getting these quite a lot The Laughing Cow Cheese wedges so I’m going to grab two of these also BOGO and an essential for me has been pretzel CPS so I’m going to get two different flavors of these and last BOGO that I found that I think will be really nice these little minute rice packets uh 200 calories of straight white rice and uh they BOGO all right I must have just picked a good day to be here because my favorite fat free hummus is Bogo as well so I guess I’ll get two of these and expensive yes but for work snacks I’ve been enjoying these Archer beef jerkies as well as the beef billong 160 calories 32 grams of protein so that’s pretty crazy these turkey pepperonis good for pizzas yes but I’ve also been using them for sandwiches too also a BOGO and a good combination with the pretel crisp some hummus always a good opportunity to reup on fat-free cheddar and fat-free mozzarella cheese to go with all the cheeses I’m going to get some turkey and some ham lunch meat still my favorite turkey bacon um and and one of the lowest calorie turkey Bacons this uh butter ball very good a very underrated sauce in my opinion is salsa so 10 calories for 2 tablespoons is great too and with that always a good opportunity to reup on the low calorie tortillas now I’ve talked about the MRE lentils quite a bit at this point but if you don’t want to get a Costco siiz thing of them you can find them at most grocery stores too just a little more expensive so I do buy most of my meat from my normal grocery store uh the first thing obviously some chicken breasts next always enjoy some red meat and I’m trying to stay relatively on budget here so we’re just going to get some cin steak and finally my grocery store has 964 lean ground beef so finally the leanest ground beef I can find is now my grocery store and although the ground beef is lean nothing is as lean as 991 lean ground turkey now I haven’t been having these very often but they do have all of the Core Power but more importantly they have the Core Power Elites the 42 G protein version but they only have vanilla so I’m just going to get two of these now I’ve done a lot of research on Pizza sauces and marinara sauces I found that the Michaels of Brooklyn mostly have 45 calories per serving and the servings are 1/2 cups so that’s really really good and they taste good as well to go with it I know it’s lazy but it is very convenient the bag pasta 60 seconds and 310 calories per bag that’s ideal I keep forgetting that I have this at home so I’m going to make a recipe with this at some point in this video because the mashed potatoes are an absolute go-to for me and they’re super low in calories now I normally buy my tuna fish from Costco but these little packets are really nice because they’re [ __ ] seasoned uh 80 calories 17 g of protein and for two of these you’re looking really good for a little snack or lunch I won’t pretend like these are the healthiest things in the world but they are relatively filling for like 200ish calories the Bas are a nice little midday snack now I’m not a big soup eater but when you look at something like this with 20 g of protein and 210 calories per can add a little meat to this and that’s a really good meal so sadly they are out of my uh sweet and spicy mustard that I love so much that I’m out of but we’ll just change it up and go with their honey mustard it’s 10 calories per teaspoon so it’s not very low calorie but it’ll get the job done for the meanwhile and I’ve just been having a lot of mustard recently so even just the normal yellow zero calorie stuff is really good now I have talked about the G Hues quite a bit and I’m not low on any of it but if you haven’t heard of it 10 calories per 2 tablespoons of really good barbecue sauce and if your store doesn’t have that sweet baby rays also makes no sugar added barbecue sauce for about the same calories and of course another all-time favorite sauce zeroc calorie red hot buffalo wing sauce I do put this [ __ ] on everything another good opportunity to pick up Lily’s dark chocolate Stevia sweetened chocolate chips quick diet hack after some cardio nothing tastes better than a nice cold pickle and their zero calories and their BOGO I get asked a lot in my creamy videos where I get sugarfree Jello-O at I just have it all along in my well in my Jello section if you don’t have Jell-O any kind of like normal gelatin or any thickening agent will work as well now I am eating a lot more egg whites so I’m going to get a full container of that and I’ve been boiling my own eggs to eat as well so I’ll get normal eggs too now I talked about this brand in my Costco video and I think we got the blueberry and the raspberry but they do have a bunch of other flavors so if you want to get them from a store you can definitely do that too so as road to rib continues uh I’ve opted out of getting granola in Li of options like some cashy going or something like that but even though it’s very expensive they we have magic spoon here I’ve never tried it before so I guess we might as well try it out now for whatever reason I just have not been enjoying ice cream recently on this cut but there are some really good options that if you do enjoy ice cream I think you should at least be aware of all of these options by yaso and Skinny Cow actually I’ve tried they’ve all been very very good uh specifically I like these right here and these right here also happen to be BOGO and now what I do kind of still enjoy are stuff like the true frus the chocolate covered blueberries are some of my favorites and then this is kind of new they now have Greek yogurt covered things you know what I might as well try this all right I’ll be honest I’m kind of hungry in here um so I’m going to try one of these true FR little things be honest they don’t look incredible but yeah they’re okay the chocolate cover versions are way better recommend just getting those I guess I’m going to go put these back now just kidding I’m going to pay for them but press thumbs up button please and look at this to combat what I got from Costco not too long ago the Reese’s banana Frozen things they have these uh I can almost guarantee you these are going to taste better I’ve had a ton of people ask me whether I will prefer the Kodiak cakes Power Flapjacks over the premier proteins I’ve never had these Frozen so let’s try them out I’ve been having yogurt just about about every single night normally it’s been the oos triple 0 but I think I’m going to switch to the Dan and lighten fit just to save a little more calories and once again also BOGO today in the frozen section now and one of my favorite little all-in-one mixes have been these little path of Life uh like here’s one cilantro lime the quinan kale is a go-to for me um same with this one the Southwest all these are really good options they range around like 300 to 400 calories per bag but they’re just good like quick simple choices but sadly for the most part this is what uh my diet’s probably didn’t to consist of for the next couple weeks just very basic Frozen mixed veg now I typically don’t get anything in the chip aisle but I will say the Lesser evil popcorn has still been very good and I’ve been able to fit it in the diet and when it comes to peanut butters I have my Costco peanut butter and I have my Costco PB fit so I haven’t been worrying about that but I am out of my favorite jelly which is the cters it tastes really good one and it’s relatively low calorie for jelly so I’ve just found now the lowest calorie bread with the craziest macros this Nature’s Own keto bread 35 calories per slice with 6 g of protein that is insane and I talked about this before if you don’t want bread and you rather have Bagels 80 calories and 9 g of protein for these Bagel thins here all right I think I’ve tried every every single flavor of these now don’t like any of them compared to Fairlife but I do also enjoy the Fairlife fat-free milk so I’m going to get some of that I don’t use whipped cream very often except for in my coffee in the morning but the fat-free whipped cream is like a third of the calories of normal whipped cream and it’s still really good my grocery store actually has a really good selection of energy drinks um I already have some at home so I don’t really need any but definitely check out your grocery store instead of having to drive all the way to your supplement store to get your energy drinks now unlike energy drinks I don’t have a very good uh protein bar selection here so I don’t get much but they do have like stuff like the belt bars um I buy mine from Costco so I don’t need them but that is a good option at least now that I have such low calorie bread I haven’t been using this as much but the rice cakes are still pretty good options for 35 calories and a little more volume so I’ve been transferring out of eating a lot of rice and more into sweet potatoes in normal rusted potatoes you get a little more volume that way so I’ll grab some of those my favorite fruit right now has been bananas um they’re all pretty pretty not ripe yet but I kind of like them a little more green than yellow typically I let Perry pick out our berries um but these blueberries are one BOGO and they look really good as well now I am the Apple connoisseur in the relationship and I’ve always been a honey crisp fan but I’ve gotten quite a few comments to try out the cosmic Apple so we’re going to give him a shot when it comes to Fresh Veggies I don’t do a whole lot I normally like some peppers I do enjoy this broccoli SLA and just normal green beans now it is almost Memorial Day weekend and watermelon has to go with Memorial Day not to mention also BOGO so I’ll get two of these considering it’s BOGO and it’s always nice to just have on Deck a couple salad kits are really good and to go along with it we got to have either the bolt house ranch or the simply Ranch they’re about the same Cal both are really good all right people that is an absolutely huge haul um that’s everything we’re going to get right now definitely time to check out get it home and try out some of this stuff all right people we are back uh obviously nothing put away even more stuff behind the camera all right so I paid with the app and the app like saves a digital receipt uh we got $344 wor wor of items so all around honestly not too bad considering all the things that we got now we’ll put some of this away try some of this stuff out and show you some recipes that I enjoy making with the stuff that we got but first things first I have to know if these are better than Premier Protein pancakes so let’s find out so the Premier Protein is 200 calories for 15 g of protein and this is 190 for 14 so pretty close there they come in the same like wraps of three and and same heating instructions 1 minute in the microwave all right and out of the microwave they seem very very similar to the premere protein I guess let’s just give them a bite you can tell this is definitely a Kodiak cake it tastes exactly like the Kodiak cake mixture which is a good thing they don’t have the same flavor as a Premier Protein and what I mean by that is the Premier Protein pancakes they have a McDonald’s Flapjack type flavor where it kind of has like a syrup y buttery flavor baked into it and I don’t get that with this this tastes like a normal pancake that you would make and not put any butter or syrup on it premere protein all the way like the whole wheat or something but the premere protein ones are just oh they’re so moist and good yeah yeah I think I agree with that 100% I think if you didn’t know that the Premier Protein ones exist I think these would be a really good option or if you can’t get those for some reason this would be a good option but if you can get the Premier Protein ones I would definitely recommend those over these those I could never eat dry like they are dry but the Premier Protein you literally don’t even need to put anything on them and they’re so good so there you have it if you don’t have access to Premier proteins I’m not saying these are a bad option they’re still good um but I don’t think they come close to the flavor level and the consistency level of the Premier proteins so for that reason um I’ll still eat these but Premier Protein is where it’s at all right so we’re going to go ahead and get a workout in now before we try more stuff but I just finished like 20 minutes on the treadmill I think we’re going to do a little back in bicep day but before we get into it I need to remind you if you enjoy a nice shirt like this or some badass shorts check it out link down below and you’ll be seeing me wear this stuff obviously in today’s workout but now that we have the little warmup cardio done I’m going to start working to a little bit of stretching so a little bit of band work a little bit of bar work getting loose getting ready for the exercise getting some blood into the lats into the back and overall just prepping for a very solid lift today then I’m going to go ahead and work out of that warmup into my first technical working set but more of a warm-up set and like a high to low cable pull in one feels really really good just like trying to get a full stretch full range of motion relatively lightweight starting out but I’m going to do probably four or five set sets here and gradually increase the weight up all right I just did like five sets I am completely drained uh I’m also absolutely leaking so as much as I love this shirt I’m going to have to pop it off I have a chest pimple right here but don’t worry about the physique we’ll get into this later I’m going to hop straight into lap pull Downs um I’m going to do four sets of heavy sets I’ve already done one warm-up set to be like my main lat Focus movement for today so four hards sets of about 8 to 10 hard reps all right Perry decided she was going to do some Pull-Ups so it’s a back day I might as well hit some pull-ups as well so I’m going to do three sets of this with her I did two sets unassisted and then the last one assisted to really burn out we’re going to finish up back with some dumbbell Rose going for pretty heavy weight here so only about eight reps and although it is difficult it does feel very very good and I’m going to do three hard sets of the dumbbell Rose as well all right as you can hear the rain has picked up quite a bit but we’re going to go ahead and finish things off with a little bit of biceps uh just doing a very standard easy dumbbell curl all right uh so I was just filming this uh this dog just came out of nowhere and came into our garage and now he’s leaving poor guy he’s probably cold and wet and he wasn’t wearing a collar all right Perry is getting in the car to go see if she can find him he just walked off all right she’s back and she got the dog I don’t know how this happens but we have him inside now at least we got him some food and water and dry and we’re going to try and find his owner it’s okay buddy he’s definitely an older dog for sure but he’s very sweet and very well behaved all right people and right under 20 minutes of cardio we’ll go ahead and wrap the workout out uh yeah wow um I don’t know if you can tell in the physique update but my like nervous system is like shot uh my hands are so shaky my legs are so shaky just like the activity of doing the cardio after I full workout and like dealing with the whole dog thing it definitely has me cooked but it might not be just today that has me cooked because we’ve been doing a pretty good job of hitting the cardio and the calories every day uh I’ll be honest with you I did try to lower my calories to 2,000 but every single day I tried to hit 2,000 I ended up eating 2200 um so I haven’t quite lowered them yet but over the next week I am going to start trying to get as close to 2,000 as possible so lowering by about 200 calories uh not too crazy but I think that definitely definitely will help uh kind of edge me into the next process of this road to rip the next phase of this road to rip series and that is where things start to get pretty serious speaking of serious so I’ve sat around my new low way in as of last weekend uh around 214 most of the week actually uh I did have a kind of bad cheat night where I ate probably about 500 extra calories and that popped me up a little bit but this morning came right back down to a brand new low weighin of 23.3 so almost down a full pound from the last video um this is the type of progress that I want to see going forward I hope to lose at least one pound a week going forward uh and that will hopefully reach me roughly to my goal by the end of this road to rip series mental state has been very good I mentioned this a little earlier in the series but once I personally start to see the changes see the differences in My overall physique that’s what helps motivate me to push me further um it also can sometimes hinder me sometimes I’ll be like oh wow I just hit a brand new low way and maybe I can celebrate and overeat today and I don’t know why I think that but that’s just something that I’m like struggling with is like oh new low way in great let’s have a cheat day stupid I know and it’s not good uh but I’m I’m I’m slowly starting to phase out of that and phase into all right we just hit a no a new low way in I wonder if I really have a good day today hit my cardio my calories again if we’re going to hit another new way in tomorrow so that’s the way I’m trying to think about it going forward um all around all is well things are crazy right now in my life like things are absolutely crazy at work at home uh in the gym everywhere and Road rip is just adding fuel to the fire and it can be looked at as a good or a bad thing I’m just trying to see all the good in it that I can and yeah I’ve definitely been enjoying pushing myself through this and like I’ve said from the very beginning that is the goal of road to RI in the beginning is just to push myself to see what I’m capable of and I think we’re going to figure that out in the next coming weeks so all around really good workout today with the cardio a little over two hours cuz we dealt with some of the dog stuff but a 2-hour workout 1,000 calories burned and uh I definitely feel like I’ve had 1,000 calories burned so that wrap up the workout I’m going to get some protein in me and then we’ll try some more stuff that we got at the grocery store today all right it is now the next morning and I figured let’s uh try try out something very high protein for breakfast and that would be this magic spoon cereal with a little added twist so I have a bowl I’m going to go ahead and pour in some cereal and instead of normal milk I figured let’s go Elite and make it a core power elite as the milk for my cereal all right and for a high protein breakfast or like a postwork workout meal that was really quick to make for sure I feeling the calories and Max macros are going to be very good now it just comes down to taste I’m someone who likes my cereal a little bit on the soggier side so I’m letting this kind of get all mixed in with the milk for a little bit and as I’m doing this maybe a little hard to tell but it’s getting that like chocolate milk that everyone enjoys when you get like Cocoa Krispies or something so that looks really good all right moment of truth all right first things first it’s not very like hard and crunch crunchy which is something I really enjoy the Catalina crunch protein cereal is so hard the milk doesn’t like absorb it and make it any softer it’s just too hard um this has a very similar consistency to like your normal Cheerios so that I really really enjoy and the chocy flavor is very good I do get a little bit of hint of like a bit of graininess from I guess whatever protein they’re using and a little bit of uh you know this almost like spicy s ation you get on your tongue from artificial sweetener I’m getting that as well and as the chatey powder gets off of the cereal and into the milk which in this case is a fair Life protein milk it’s incredible this stuff right here already tastes it tastes like melted vanilla ice cream and so when you get that little bit of added chocolate flavor in there from the cereal it’s a really good combo actually so as I mentioned after a few minutes now the milk is very very chocolatey there is 450 calories in this bowl but with that we’re at at 63 g of protein that is insane for like an actual bowl of cereal so yeah if you can find the magic spoon it’s way more expensive than like your normal cereal but added protein really good consistency a little bit off in flavor not quite as good as like Cocoa Pebbles but in my opinion totally worth it all right people it is time for dinner and I said I was going to use a couple different things in this video that’s exactly what we’re going to do I want to make kind of a meal pre is style recipe um and a dinner meal for tonight and we’re going to be using our lean ground beef our lean ground turkey our peppers and a couple other things first things first I’m going to go ahead and use all these diced peppers and get those sautéing up and as that’s nice and charred up we can go ahead add our pound of ground turkey kind of missed the pan there and our pound of lean ground beef as I mix that together I’m going to hit it with some flavor God everything spicy and some Kinder’s Woodfire garlic that turned out beautiful and we have our meat for the next couple days now for tonight like I said earlier I want to make something with these mashed potatoes cuz I haven’t been using them as much as i’ like to and they’re really good so I’m going to go ahead and put some into a bowl and I’ll hit that with a little salt and pepper and then it’s just a process of adding some milk or you can use water stirring microwaving for a minute or so and repeat honestly this consistency is about perfect just from the first microwave and keeping it with some items we got today I’m going to add some uh mixed veg this just straight out of the microwave from the freezer up next we’ll add some of our meat mixture into the mix and lastly another item we got today some of the fat free cheddar cheese over top all right I have not even had my first bite yet but I know this is going to be fantastic cuz I’ve had similar meals to this in the past and they’re always very good and then once you had this meaty cheesy mashed potatoey veggie mix yeah it’s like one of the top three meals you could possibly think making like don’t get me wrong are the powdered mashed potatoes as probably healthy for you as making your own Mas potatoes definitely not definitely has more preservatives and stuff like that but it’s so easy easy and it’s so good and it is still real potatoes for me it’s an absolute win when I’m like trying to make things super quick the combination of meat combining the 99% fat-free turkey and the 964 Wing ground beef it’s perfect you get a lot of flavor from the ground beef the leanness and volume from the ground turkey combined together especially on a cut helps out quite a lot the veggie adds more volume like I said mash potatoes are phenomenal and the cheese well it’s cheesy I’ll be real with you I was going to put some G Hues uh over top it actually doesn’t need it at all it is perfect just the way it is yeah all around with just some simple stuff we got at the grocery store today a perfect perfect meal by the way I’m just tracking my day on my fitness pal um this meal specifically 460 calories and it has 60 gram of protein in it come on I mean that’s pretty hard to beat for a meal dis volumous that tastes honestly so good plus now I have a ton of meat that I can make meals with throughout the entire week so if you’re looking for like a bulk meal prep style meat that back there is absolutely perfect and then you’re able to make great meals like this with it whenever you want
