I’m back with some more quick and easy 10-minute low carb high protein recipes for you today we’re making a couple of seafood favorites crab cakes and firecracker shrimp with a couple of swaps you can make the best crab cakes with a crispy exterior while keeping the inside juicy tender and loaded with flavor let’s start with the flavor components start with 3 tbspoon of mayonnaise then add a teaspoon of mustard a half a tblspoon of lemon juice a teaspoon of lemon zest a half a teaspoon of wor suure sauce and then a tablespoon each of fresh parsley and green onions and of course it wouldn’t be a good crab cake recipe without using the old standard Old Bay Seasoning you’ll need about 1 and 1/2 teaspoons once that’s combined add in 8 oz of lump crab meat you can use fresh or canned crab fresh is obviously going to taste better if you’re using canned make sure you just drain off all the liquid first with canned you may need to add a little bit more almond flour too the almond flour helps form the meaty cakes it’s used in place of breadcrumbs which is traditionally found in crab cake recipes if you’re using fresh crab meat you’ll need around 3 to 4 tablespoons of almond flour if you’re using canned I would suggest adding in around one or two more tablespoons when you’re mixing this if the mixture seems like it’s a little bit too juicy you may need to add a little bit more Mayo just to help ensure that it forms a cake and not just some soggy blob start with a half of a tablespoon and then you can add more if you need to you want it to look more like this now form the cakes this mixture will make around six crap cakes use around 2 oz or 2 tablespoons for each cake I think it’s easiest just to use a cookie scoop for this I just put these on a parchment line tray until they’re ready to cook if you’re making these up ahead of time this is a good stopping point you can just wrap them up in plastic wrap and put them in the refrigerator until you’re ready to cook them to fry these heat a non-stick skillet over medium to medium high heat then working in batches of two or three add in the crab cakes and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until they’re golden brown flatten them down too as you add the in you might have to play with the heat a little bit just to make sure that the cake Cooks through without burning the outside you know everybody’s burners are different so find the temperature and the heat that works for you and that’s it serve these with your favorite sauce like a cocktail sauce a lemon aoli or remad like I did here the sweet crab meat combined with the Mayo and the mustard gives this subtle creaminess and a hint of Tang they’re delicious before I show you one of my favorite summertime recipes I want to share with you my favorite summertime drink which is grapefruit salt by element electrolytes who is my sponsor for today’s video when mixed with ice water this drink mix gives the most delicious grapefruit flavor that is sweetened with stevia so it’s only two carbs per packet but it also contains a good dose of electrolyte since it’s really easy to get dehydrated in the summer months with the excess of heat each packet has a science-backed electrolyte formula of 1,000 Mig of sodium 200 Mig of potassium and 60 mgs of magnesium that might seem like a lot of electrolytes but it’s the perfect ratio for somebody following a low carb diet or if you work out and sweat a lot or if you’re out in the yard or gardening and you sweat a lot out there too it’s ideal for you and you can always just add just a half a packet if you find it too salty or you think that you don’t need that many electrolytes right now element is offering my viewers a free sample pack with any drink mix purchase it’s a great way to sample some of their flavors so get your sample pack with any drink mix purchase at drink element.com ketofocus if you want a recipe for shrimp that goes beyond the traditional garlic and butter recipe you have to try this firecracker shrimp recipe it still has The Buttery garlic flavor but it adds some heat that is so addictive and you’ll want to make these all the time this summer starting with the marinade to a large bowl add three cloves of minced garlic the juice from one lemon a tablespoon of paprika a half a teaspoon of salt and half to 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes depending on how spicy you like it then 1/4 cup of butter that you’ve melted and two of those canned chipotle peppers that you find in the Adobo sauce just min those up and add those in a teaspoon of chopped cilantro 2 tbsp of olive oil a half a teaspoon of pepper and 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper then whisk this all together until it’s combined next add in your peeled and Devan shrimp I like to use either the normal sized ones or the jumbo ones either way you’re going to need around 2 lbs of shrimp and I like to buy the shrimp that’s already deved and peeled with the tails on it may be more expensive but it saves so much time when it comes to cooking your shrimp you can cook it in the oven or the stove top but I like to grill it this is why I like it as a summertime recipe you can cook them in an outdoor grill using a grill basket over medium high heat for around 3 to 5 minutes or you can cook them in an indoor grill like what’s happening here just using the same temperature in time just make sure that you turn them so that they cook evenly on both sides these have so much flavor you can enjoy them as an appetizer or your main course for more delicious low carb seafood recipes
