chicken tikka masala is an amazing meal but relatively high in calories because it’s made with heavy cream so in today’s video i will make a low calorie version that still tastes good starting off with the marinade i will first peel and chop up two cloves of garlic then i will peel a fresh piece of ginger that has the size of my thumb now we’ll take a bowl and then i will add in 100 gram of fat-free greek yogurt this one have 60 calories in 100 grams you can also add in skewer if you like next is a combination of spices and here’s where you can experiment with different kinds my spice mix consists of equal parts of coriander turmeric chili and paprika powder i will use 15 grams in total from which two tablespoons will go into my marinade remember that spices have calories unless you add in salt this is calorie free something like paprika powder has the same amount of calories in sugar which is in fact 400 calories of 100 gram then i will press the garlic and the ginger through my garlic press you can also use a grater if you have one next is one lemon that i will squeeze through my hands to prevent the kernels that go inside the bowl add one tablespoon of salt and then i will mix everything before adding the meat i will use 200 grams of skinless chicken breasts cut into small pieces combine the marinade with the meat cover the bowl and then i will pop this into the fridge to marinate for around 4 hours next is the actual sauce for that i will peel a medium sized onion and cut it into small chunks then once again i will prepare two cloves of garlic and a piece of fresh ginger that you can already grate it right away now i will preheat a pot on maximum heat and add one spray of oil then i will add in the chicken to seal them for around 1 minute aside i will not cook them through i will only let them become brown on the outside and then remove them again from the pot i will add in back the chicken later on and it will get cooked through inside of the finished sauce as soon as the chicken is removed i will reduce the heat to medium heat and add in the onions i will fry them until they start to caramelize and become brown this will take around 5 to 7 minutes then once again i will press in the garlic and the ginger fried them for 30 seconds and then adding the remaining spices now we’ll add in an entire can of tomatoes this tin has 400 grams and also add in some additional water now give this a nice stir and let this cook for around 10 to 12 minutes this now is the time where normally heavy cream goes into this so instead to reduce the calories i will add in 100 gram of fat free evaporated milk when i tried this the first time i was very skeptical but it turned out very well and in my opinion it’s a very good substitution because not only will it add this similar texture but also it has only a quarter of the calories of heavy cream if everything is stir and then i will add in the chicken to let him cook through i will check the temperature with a food thermometer until the chicken gets around 75 degrees celsius or 167 degrees fahrenheit which is the safe spot then switch off the heat and the low calorie chicken tikka masala is ready a fast click on the like button will now unlock the macros of the recipe you’re done good the entire recipe has 561 calories 54 grams of carbs 5 grams of fat and 83 grams of protein enjoy this with some rice or bread and see you in the next video
