Ep 11. Chipotle’s Red Tomatillo Salsa Recipe

I used to work at Chipotle and I fell in love with their food. But, recently their prices have gotten so expensive. So, I decided to make this series and share my knowledge. All of Chipotle’s recipe use healthy ingredients and are so easy to make.

INGREDIENTS:

– 13.5 Oz Green Tomatillos
– 4 New Mexico Chiles (deseed one) *not in video but more accurate*
– 4 Small Chile de Arbol Peppers (for extra heat)
– 1/2 Tablespoon Garlic Powder
– 1 Tsp Cumin
– 1 Tsp Salt
– 1 Tsp Black Pepper
– 1 to 2 Tsp Tabasco Sauce
– 1/2 cup Water

DIRECTIONS:

1. Prepare Tomatillos: Peel and wash the tomatillos thoroughly.
2. Boil Tomatillos: Bring 6 cups of water to a boil. Add the tomatillos to the boiling water. Once the tomatillos burst, remove them from the water and let them dry.
3. Prepare New Mexico Chiles: Destem the New Mexico chiles and deseed one of them.
4. Prepare Chile de Arbol Peppers: Depending on your desired spice level, use 2-5 Chile de Arbol peppers. Destem them.
5. Toast Chiles and Peppers: Toast the New Mexico chiles and Chile de Arbol peppers for 3 minutes on each side.
6. Soak Chiles and Peppers: Let the toasted chiles and peppers sit in 1/2 cup of water for 15 minutes.
7. Blend Ingredients: Add the dried tomatillos, soaked chiles and peppers, garlic powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, Tabasco sauce, and 1/2 cup of water into a blender.
8. Blend Until Smooth: Blend until you reach a smooth consistency.
9. Serve: Your Chipotle Red Tomatillo Salsa is ready to serve! Enjoy!
