NO SUGAR WINTER SPECIAL CARAMELISED MAKHANA

While our Finance Minister has imposed GST on caramelised popcorn, I’m thrilled to share that **caramelised makhana** is tax-free! 😄 But in all seriousness, this incredible snack is so much more than just a treat. Makhana is packed with protein, supports heart health, aids in weight management, boosts energy levels, and is rich in antioxidants. It’s also great for your bones and improves sexual health! What’s not to love? ❤️✨
I’ve made this treat with jaggery, so it’s naturally sweet without the added sugar! 💚 Follow the recipe below to make the perfect crispy, crunchy Makhana that’s not only delicious but also nourishing!
### Recipe:
1. Dry roast 100 gm Makhana on a low-medium flame until crispy (10-15 mins).
2. In a kadai, add 1 tbsp ghee & half a cup of jaggery (gur).
3. Add 2 tbsp water & let the jaggery melt.
4. Mix in 1/2 tsp salt, 2 tsp dry ginger powder, crushed black pepper, 2 tsp fennel seeds, and 1/2 tsp turmeric.
5. Cook the jaggery until it’s solid & brittle (do the water test!). Tip – To check it’s done or not, in a bowl take some water, drop some melted gur in it and try and roll it between two fingers; and leave aside for couple of seconds. If it becomes solid, that means gur is cooked properly.
6. Turn off the heat and mix in the roasted Makhana along with 2 tbsp roasted sesame seeds.
7. Spread on a greased tray to cool and enjoy!
8. Store in an airtight container (no fridge!).
