✨ Healthy Air-Fryer Filet-O-Fish ✨
A guilt-free take on the McDonald’s classic—crispy, golden fish with a zesty tartar sauce, all made healthier! 🍽️🐟
🔹 Ingredients:
For the Fish:
1 fillet of white fish (hoki, cod, Alaska pollock or haddock)
Salt (to draw out moisture)
For the Healthy Tartar Sauce:
2 slices gherkins, chopped
16-20 capers, chopped
Handful of fresh dill, chopped
1 small white onion, finely chopped
2 tbsp yogurt
Salt (adjust as needed)
Juice of ½ lemon
For the Batter:
½ cup flour
¼ tsp turmeric
½ tsp paprika or red chili powder
1 tsp onion powder
Salt & pepper to taste
Soda water (for a thick batter)
For Assembly:
1 cheddar cheese slice
1 burger bun
Butter (for toasting)
Lettuce & tomato (optional)
🔹 Steps to Follow:
✅ Step 1: Prep the Fish
Sprinkle salt on the fish and let it rest to draw out excess moisture.
Dab it dry
✅ Step 2: Make the Tartar Sauce
Mix chopped gherkins, capers, dill, and onion in a bowl.
Add yogurt, a little salt, and lemon juice. Set aside.
✅ Step 3: Coat & Cook the Fish
Mix flour, turmeric, paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Take some dry mix aside for coating.
Add soda water to the rest to form a thick batter.
Coat the fish in dry batter, then in the wet batter.
Air fry at 195°C (385°F) for 10 minutes, spraying lightly with oil. Check if an extra minute is needed.
Once done, place a cheddar slice on the warm fish.
✅ Step 4: Assemble the Burger
Toast the bun in butter.
Spread a generous layer of tartar sauce.
Add the crispy fish, another layer of sauce, and the top bun.
For extra freshness, add lettuce and tomato!
