Welcome to our kitchen! Today, we’re making a delicious and crispy Vazhaipoo Masala Vada, a perfect snack for any time of the day.
To start, you’ll need fresh banana flower, also known as vazhaipoo. Clean and chop it finely, then soak it in water with a little lemon juice to prevent browning.
Next, gather your spices. You’ll need chana dal, urad dal, dried red chilies, cumin seeds, and a hint of asafoetida. Soak the dal for about two hours, then drain.
In a mixer, add the soaked dal, red chilies, cumin seeds, and asafoetida. Blend it coarsely without adding water. Now, mix in the chopped vazhaipoo, along with finely chopped onions, coriander leaves, and salt to taste.
Once your mixture is ready, heat oil in a frying pan. Shape the mixture into small round patties and fry them until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
Serve your Vazhaipoo Masala Vada hot with coconut chutney or sambar. Trust me, the combination is irresistible!
