Pesarattu is a traditional Andhra Pradesh dish* that’s as nourishing as it is flavourful, packed with plant-based protein, fiber, and gut-friendly spices. It’s naturally gluten-free and super light on the tummy, perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! ✨
✨ Ingredients (makes 5–6 dosas):
🥣 1 cup whole green moong dal (soaked overnight)
🍚 2 tbsp rice (soaked overnight)
🌶 2 green chillies
🧄 ½ inch ginger
🌱 1 spring curry leaves
🌿 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
🧂 Salt to taste
💧 ~½ cup water (adjust as needed for batter consistency)
🧅 Finely chopped onions (for topping)
🔥 How to Make It:
1. In the morning, drain the soaked moong dal and rice.
2. Add it to a blender with green chilli, ginger, curry leaves, cumin seeds, salt, and ~½ cup water.
3. Blend to a smooth, slightly thick batter.
4. Season your cast iron tawa and pour a ladle of batter. Spread evenly like dosa.
5. Sprinkle chopped onions on top and cook until crisp and golden on one side. No need to flip!
6. Serve hot with your favourite chutney or podi ❤
