The choices we make each day can help reduce our risk for cancer. While there are many diet and lifestyle habits linked to a reduced risk of cancer, here are 5 simple swaps you can make today!
1. Choose a sprouted whole grain bread over white breads
2. Try a chickpea salad sandwich vs a processed meat sandwich – recipe below!
3. Choose veggies and hummus over potato chips and dip
4. Swap snickers dates for chocolate bars – recipe below!
5. Ditch high sugar soda products for infused waters – recipe below!
Chickpea Salad Sandwich
Combine 1 can drained and semi-smashed chickpeas, 1 tbsp minced celery, 1 tbsp minced red onion, 1 tbsp parsley, 2 tbsp mayonnaise, 2 tsp Dijon mustard, 1 tsp lemon juice, salt to taste. Serves 2-3.
Snickers Dates
Slice open a medjool date and discard pit. Stuff with ½ tsp peanut butter and 1 tsp of chopped peanuts. Close date back together. Dip in 1 tbsp melted chocolate. Garnish with peanuts and place in fridge or freezer until set.
Infused Waters
Chop fresh and washed produce and herbs of your choice into a jar of water and soak in the fridge overnight. (The infused water made in this video is strawberry, cucumber, and mint.)
