Dal Pitha Recipe – Traditional & Wholesome Monsoon Snack

Dal Pitha is a soft, steamed dumpling made from wheat flour and stuffed with a delicious, spiced lentil filling. This comforting snack is perfect for rainy days and brings warmth and nostalgia to your kitchen. It’s healthy, protein-rich, and easy to make!

Ingredients:
Wheat flour — 2 cups
Chana dal— 1 cup (soaked)
Green chili — 1-2 (finely chopped)
Ginger — 1 inch piece (grated)
Asafoetida (hing) — a pinch
Mustard seeds — 1 tsp
Curry leaves — few
Coriander leaves — handful (chopped)
Salt — to taste
Oil — 1-2 tbsp (for tempering)
Water — as needed for dough

How to make:

Prepare a soft dough using wheat flour and hot water.

Make a filling grinding chana dal with green chili, ginger and garlic.

Shape small portions of dough into discs, stuff with lentil filling, and seal properly.

Steam the stuffed pithas until cooked.

Cut in desired shape and pan fry them in oil with tempering of himg,sarso and curry leaves

Serve hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
