Dahi chawal is a dish that feeds not just my stomach but my heart and soul too. I absolutely love dahi/yogurt and rice in all forms – so they have to form that killer combination when put together.

Not only is this tasty, but also super healthy. It is the perfect meal for the times when you want to take a break from heavy/oily food and sooth your stomach. It cools your body, aids digestion, and benefits of dahi/yogurt are enough talked about everywhere.

Ingredients I used:
– 1 cup rice
– 1/2 cup yogurt, or as preferred
– rock salt to taste
– 1/4 cup milk (optional)

For tadka:
– 1tbsp oil
– 1 tsp mustard seeds
– 1 tsp jeera/cumin seeds
– pinch of hing
– few curry leaves
– 3 red chillies
– 1 tsp chana dal
– 2 tsp urad dal

For garnish:
– 2 green chillies, chopped
– coriander leaves, chopped

Procedure:
– Mix dahi and rice together with some salt and set aside.
– Prepare tadka with all the ingredients mentioned under tadka. Roast the dals for a bit till they change colour and fragrant.
– Pour tadka on top.
– Add a bit of milk for consistency
– Garnish with green chillies and coriander leaves
