Did you know that for centuries, oats were primarily considered a food for livestock? It wasn’t until the 19th century that oats gained widespread popularity as a breakfast staple for people, thanks to the invention of the rolling mill.
Ingredients (per glass/portion):
• 40g of oatmeal
• 5g of chia seeds
• Cinnamon (to taste)
• 1/3 of a banana
• 80ml almond milk
• 100g of low-fat Greek yogurt
• 5g of unsweetened dark chocolate chips
Texture: The longer it sits, the softer the oats will become, creating a creamy texture.
Instructions:
1. Prep the Base: In a glass or jar, combine the oatmeal, chia seeds, cinnamon, and almond milk. Stir well to ensure the chia seeds are evenly distributed.
2. Add a third of a banana to each glass.
3. Mash and mix well
4. Layer the Greek yogurt over it.
5. Top unsweetened dark chocolate chips.
6. Store: Cover the glass and store it in the fridge overnight or for at least a few hours to allow the oats and chia seeds to absorb the liquid and soften. Enjoy chilled!
