Quick Toasted Deli Sandwich
This is a fast and simple recipe for a toasted deli-style sandwich.
Ingredients:
• 2 slices of sandwich bread
• Olive oil (or butter) for toasting
• Mayonnaise or sandwich spread (I used the American Burger Sauce)
• Sliced deli meat (turkey or chicken breast)
• Sliced white cabbage
• Himalayan salt
• Shredded white cabbage (or coleslaw mix)
• Hard cheese shavings for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
• Add a small amount of oil to a non-stick pan over medium heat.
• Toast one side of both slices of bread until lightly golden.
• Remove the bread from the pan and place one slice, toasted-side down, on a plate.
• Spread the mayonnaise/sandwich spread on the untoasted side of both bread slices.
• On the bottom slice, layer the deli meat.
• Top the meat with a small amount of shredded cabbage.
• Add the grated/sliced cheese on top of the cabbage.
• Place the second slice of bread on top, toasted-side up, to complete the sandwich.
• Return the sandwich to the pan and toast on both sides until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
• Remove from the pan, slice in half, and serve immediately. Garnish with hard cheese shavings on the plate for extra flavor/visual appeal.
