Here’s a classic Boondi Raita recipe—ready in under 10 minutes and perfect as a cooling side with biryani, parathas, or rice dishes!
🥣 Ingredients (serves ~2–3)
½ cup boondi (plain or masala, store-bought or homemade)
1 cup plain yogurt (whole‑milk or regular curd)
Spices & flavorings:
½ tsp roasted cumin powder
¼–½ tsp chaat masala
¼ tsp red chili powder (or cayenne)
Pinch of black pepper & salt to taste
Fresh herbs: 1–2 tbsp chopped coriander (cilantro), optional mint.
Optional: a pinch of sugar or a squirt of lime juice for balance.
Method
1. Prep the boondi
For a soft texture, soak boondi in ~1 cup warm water for 5–10 minutes, drain, gently squeeze excess water
For extra crunch, skip soaking and add directly into yogurt just before serving.
2. Make the raita
Whisk yogurt in a bowl until smooth (add a splash of water if too thick)
Stir in spices: cumin, chaat masala, chili powder, black pepper, salt, and optional lime/sugar.
Fold in chopped coriander (and mint, if using).
3. Combine & chill
Add soaked or crunchy boondi into spiced yogurt; mix gently.
Taste and adjust the seasoning or yogurt consistency.
Chill for ~10 minutes before serving so flavors meld.
Serving & Tips
Serve chilled alongside spicy mains like biryani, pulao, kebabs, or parathas
Use roasted cumin powder for a warm, aromatic touch
