Ingredients:
• ½ cup masoor dal (red lentils)
• ½ cup basmati rice
• 1-2 tbsp ghee
• 1 tsp cumin seeds
• Curry leaves
• 1 tsp chopped garlic
• 1 green chilli (optional)
• 1 small onion, chopped
• 1 small potato, cubed
• ½ tsp turmeric powder
• 1 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder
• 1 tsp coriander powder
• 1 tsp garam masala,1/2 tsp cumin powder
• 1/2 tsp amchur (dry mango powder)
• 1 cup tomato purée
• Chopped beans or mixed vegetables
• Salt to taste
• 2 cups Water as needed
• Roasted cashews in ghee
• Fresh coriander leaves
Method:
1️⃣ Soak masoor dal & basmati rice together in warm water for 20 minutes.
2️⃣ Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds, curry leaves, garlic & green chilli.
3️⃣ Add onion and sauté till soft. Add potatoes and sauté lightly.
4️⃣ Add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala & amchur. Roast well.
5️⃣ Add tomato purée and cook for sometime.
6️⃣ Add vegetables, soaked dal & rice. Mix gently.
7️⃣ Add salt and water. Pressure cook for 2 whistles.
8️⃣ Garnish with ghee-roasted cashews & fresh coriander 🌿
