Simple Whole Wheat Bread in a Bread Machine Beginner Friendly



Ingredients

4 cups of wheat flour
1 1/2 cup water
3-4 tablespoon Cooking Oil or butter
Half cup of honey or brown sugar
1.5 teaspoon yeast
1 teaspoon Salt

Add liquids first (water, oil or melted butter) and then salt to the bread machine pan.
Add flour next.
Add yeast last, making a small well in the flour to keep it separate from the liquids until mixing begins.
Select the Basic or White cycle (or your machine’s equivalent) and set the desired crust (Light, Medium, or Dark).
Start the machine.

Why these steps?

Water and fat provide moisture and affect mixing and hydration.
Salt is added early for flavor and to control yeast activity, but placing salt away from yeast initially helps avoid inhibiting yeast immediately.
Keeping yeast separate until mixing begins reduces the risk of the yeast activating too early.
