🍛 Masoor Dal Pulao

🧾 Ingredients
• 1 cup basmati rice (soaked 20 min)
• 1 cup masoor dal (washed/soaked)
• 1 tbsp mustard oil
• 1 tsp cumin seeds
• Pinch of asafoetida
• 1 bay leaf
• 5 garlic cloves (chopped)
• 2 onions (sliced)
• 4 medium potatoes (chopped)
• 1 tomato (chopped)
• ½ tsp turmeric powder
• 1 tsp Kashmiri chilli powder
• 1 tsp salt (adjust)
• 2 tsp sambar masala
• 2 cups water
• 1 green chilli
• Fresh coriander (for garnish)

👩‍🍳 Instructions
1. Heat mustard oil in a cooker/pan.
2. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, and bay leaf; let them splutter.
3. Add garlic → sauté briefly.
4. Add sliced onions → cook till light golden.
5. Add potatoes → sauté 2–3 mins.
6. Add tomato, turmeric, chilli powder, salt, and sambar masala → cook till soft.
7. Add soaked rice + dal → mix gently.
8. Add water and green chilli → stir once.
9. Pressure cook (1 whistle) or cook covered till rice is done.
10. Garnish with coriander.

🍽️ Serving

Serve hot with raita, pickle, or papad.
