Tabbouleh (or Tabouli) is a healthy fresh and a Middle Eastern dish salad, made with parsley being the number one ingredient. It’s dotted with diced onions and tomato my favorite bulgur, and dressed simply with olive oil and lemon juice. It’s refreshing, light, crunchy and packed with healthy ingredients.

BEET SALAD WITH FETA CHEESE
Tabbouleh Ingredients:
Bulgur:
It’s a whole grain. Once prepared, it’s tender and fluffy I love to us the white bulgur but you are free to use brown as well. Bulgur is often confused with couscous, but they’re not the same (couscous is actually tiny pasta).
Authentic and classic tabbouleh is made with super fine grain here I use white.. bulgur and it’s soaked rather than cooked,
you are able to find it at any regular grocery stores, Lebanese or Arab stores as well. There are several other varieties of bulgur, but for Tabbouleh I normally use fine grain bulgur.
Fresh Parsley:
Classic tabbouleh uses a ton of parsley. That’s why this salad is really green and beautiful! I always use flat-leaf , Even when it’s chopped very small, flat-leaf parsley offers some extra volume that makes this tabbouleh so pleasant to eat. It’s all about looks as well 🙂
Onion and Tomato:
Fresh onion and tomato add more texture and color, and build on the refreshing factor.
Olive Oil, Lemon Juice:
Tabbouleh is dressed in a simple combination of olive oil and lemon juice. If you like lemon you can add as much as you like.
Note1:Tomato release a lot of moisture when they’re exposed to salt, so be sure to add the salt at the very end. Or when you are ready to serve food then you can add the salt.
Note2: Season sufficiently with lemon juice and salt.
Tabbouleh should be zingy and full of flavor, and you’ll need to use enough lemon and salt to get there. Extra lemon would be as good.
Note3:
Can You Freeze Tabbouleh?
Unfortunately, you can not! Tabbouleh recipe does not freeze well.
The low temperature of the freezer would cause all of your parsley to wilt, and you will lose so much of that tasty crunch.
Soak the bulgur before chopping the fresh ingredients.
Wash and chop all the fresh ingredients.
Combine fresh parsley, bulgur, Spanish onions, fresh tomatoes, fresh squeezed lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil and salt at the very end.
Your healthy and flavorful salad is ready in no time. Super simple and easy to make.
Eat it as a side or a main or an afternoon snack!
