Healthy Dairy Free Ice Cream, or “Nice Cream” is an incredibly easy summer dessert for people looking for lower calorie desserts and can be made vegan. Perfect for the hot summer month and doesn’t require you to go out of your house/leave quarantine for special ingredients. It uses 3 pantry/staple items only!
Also as the title implies, I will be releasing more versions of nice cream using different base ingredients like aqua faba or sweet potatoes down the road.
This recipe takes a total of 4 hours and 10 mins, with an active time of 10 mins. The rest of the time is spent waiting for the nice cream to freeze. Below is what you will need:
Ingredients:
– Overly Ripe Bananas
– Non Dairy Milk
– Honey (Use sugar if making vegan version)
– Cocoa Powder (Optional)
– Peanut Butter (Optional)
– Frozen Blueberries (Optional)
Tools:
– Knife
– Cutting Board
– Freezer
– Food Processor OR blender
Calorie Comparison:
100 grams of the standard vanilla ice cream comes in at 207 Calories. My base recipe without any mix-ins is as follows:
– 2 Tbsp of Honey = 128 Calories & 42 grams
– 2 Tbsp of Almond Milk = 8 Calories & 30 grams
– 5 bananas = 605 Calories & 680 grams
This comes out to a total of 732 Calories & 752 grams. So 100 grams of this nice cream would be around 100 Calories, less than half the standard vanilla ice cream!
