Finally, a Lao recipe that isn’t spicy 😂 Fun fact: history shows that this dish is heavily French influenced. Oh, and I get asked all the time about how I make yum salad IRL so here it is guys. I hope you all enjoy!
Lao salad dressing:
7 hard boiled egg yolks (whites are reserved for later use) 🥚 🥚
1 cup of mayo
3 1/2 tablespoons of sugar
1 1/2 juice of whole lime
2 1/2 tablespoons of fish sauce
5 tablespoons of water
Dash of msg
Use an appropriate amount of:
Lettuce of your choice, cut up into bite sized pieces (I used artisan & romaine) 🥬
Seedless cucumbers, thinly sliced on a bias 🥒
Beefsteak tomatoes, sliced 🍅
Cilantro, cut (yes I keep the stems because why waste it???????!???! 🤔)
Meat:
2 lbs ground chicken
1 whole big shallot, diced
3 tablespoons of oyster sauce
2 teaspoons of fish sauce
2 teaspoons of soy sauce
Chicken powder
Sugar & msg
Onion powder
Garlic powder
White pepper
**TIP: make a slurry using equal parts water & cornstarch to thicken the stir fry sauce. for example, use 2 teaspoons of water + cornstarch & see what that does**
