DO YOU REMEMBER that good old southern cooking? When I was growing up, my granny was my favorite cook. My mama was an amazing cook as well, but there was just something about being in granny’s kitchen.
I have made it so easy for you to learn how to cook like my granny and mama did with cooking tutorials for each and every recipe in our cookbooks. You can see how to order these by visiting us on our website. Oh and no difficult to find or crazy ingredients! Just simple ingredients and really good food.
I am a southern girl born in raised in Collard Valley in Polk County Georgia. We went to church on Sunday, school during the week, the grocery store on Friday’s and that was our life. No vacations, no camping, just plain old southern country people
NOW FOR THIS FAMILY RECIPE:
THIS RECIPE IS BEST EATEN DAY IT IS MADE!
Jell-O & Yogurt Fruit Salad
16 oz. Plain yogurt
3 oz. Sugar Free Jell-O (option: 1.4 oz. sugar free vanilla pudding)
½ lb. Grapes (seedless and two colors)
3 Medium Apples (3 different colors not peeled -chopped)
½ Cup Golden Raisins
½ Cup Chopped Walnuts or Pecans
½ Lemon juiced (to toss chopped apples in)
1 15 oz. Can Mandarin Oranges (drained)
1 10 oz. Can Pineapple Chucks (drained)
Drain your Pineapple and Oranges first through a strainer and let them sit so they can drain while you make the rest of the salad. Put your yogurt and Jell-O in a large bowl and whisk well until Jell-O is distributed evenly with yogurt. Cut your grapes in half and place in bowl with Jell-O/yogurt. Chop your apples and put in the bowl. Now put in the remaining ingredients and toss to coat well. Chill and Serve!
Options: Use a different Jell-O flavor for different colors. Use a Jell-O instant vanilla pudding for a cream color base.
Options: Regular Jell-O can be used in place of Sugar Free!
Don’t: Do not use strawberries, bananas (soft fruits) in this salad.
