This is my all time fav 20 minute asian-inspired dinner. I found the recipe on Aaron and Claire’s youtube channel so long ago I can’t even remember the name of the dish or the original recipe 😂
Here is my version of the recipe:
It is not spicy, just flavorful
4-6 servings, depending on who you’re feeding
1 small to medium onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped (optional)
500g beef mince (I love the @Food Lover’s Market mince for this one because the higher fat content makes it more flavourful)
Any noodles of your choice, I prefer a thicker rice noodle
Sauce:
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup korean red pepper flakes (must be korean kind because they are very mild – do not use regular chilli flakes)
1/4 cup soya sauce
1/4 cup oyster sauce
*if you’re using a thick noodle that takes long to cook, you want to start boiling the water at the beginning. If you’re using a thin noodle like ramen, only cook it after you added the sauce to the mince since it cooks so quickly – to prevent overcooking
1. Cook the onion in a dash of oil for 5 minutes
2. Add the mince, making sure to break it up into small pieces (doesn’t have to be super fine)
3. Once cooked, add the sauce and garlic and simmer until slightly thickened
4. Add the cooked noodles and mix
5. Serve with green onion and sesame seeds. I like to serve it with some steamed broccoli or a side salad
For a single serving: use 100g mince and a tbsp each of the sauce ingredients
