TOFU TENDERS:
INGREDIENTS:
– 1 block extra firm tofu
– Liquid aminos, coconut aminos, soy sauce etc.
– 1/2 cup panko or bread crumbs of choice
– 1/4 cup flour of choice
– 1/4 cup plant milk of choice
– 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
– 2 tsp seasoning – I used a little garlic and also Italian seasoning.
– Optional: 2 tbsp oil
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Prepare tofu by pressing out liquid (with a press or tea towel method), cut pressed tofu into slices and place on a plate or dish and freeze, then let thaw! This gives the tofu a more “chicken” like texture vs “mushy” LOL
2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat oven to 400F.
3. Dash your aminos over each piece of tofu – LIGHTLY!
4. In 3 plates/shallow dishes/bowls etc place 1: flour 2: milk and 3: seasonings, nutritional yeast, bread crumbs and optional oil (mix this all well!)
5. Dish each piece of tofu in this order: flour first, then milk, then bread crumb mixture.
6. Place on parchment paper and bake for 20 min. Flip and bake for another 20 minutes! They should be golden brown and crispy!
