Today I give you the PROS and CONS of having a cheat day / cheat meal regularly, when it comes to losing weight, getting fitter/in better shape a dn healthier.
Check out some of my 10,000 calorie epic cheat day challenge videos here
How much weight can you gain when incorporating cheat meals and epic cheat days into your diet? Is it a lot of weight gain / fat you can gain or is it very little? Can you still lose weight whilst eating doughnuts, pizza, burgers, brownies, fries and ice cream? Or any other of your favourite junk food…
The most important factor is what you are doing every day for your fitness… your healthy habits / lifestyle choices, your regular diet, and IF… you happen to be trying to lose weight or burn fat, are you maintaining a caloric deficit (aka eating less food than your body needs and therefor burning fat / losing weight)…
Your daily healthy habits, dinners, breakfasts, lunches, activity / workouts, amount you are active etc all contribute and I break down in this video.
How do some of our favourite youtuber’s (Travis S, Nick Dompierre, ErikTheElectric, Nate Figueroa, Will Tennyson, Stephanie Buttermore, MattDoesFitness, William Thomas etc) stay skinny, fit, lean and strong with a low body fat whilst also doing a food challenge / 10,000 calorie cheat day challenge or other cheat meal video regularly?
Is it just because they are working out and burning the calories off or work out regularly? Is it because they don’t eat anything else throughout the day? Is it because on the other days they are healthy and keep account of their calories and overall nutrition intake AND happen to be into fitness / bodybuilding / weightlifting or cardio etc therefor can use it to their advantage / use the extra calories?
It is a mixture of all of the answers.
Cheat days can help you lose weight. They can help you adhere to a weight loss diet, especially a long term fitness / weight loss goal (which is why bodybuilders and physique competitors use them before / after a show) … but they can also mess you up if you cannot control your portion size, or you take it ‘too far’ and eat too many calories OR do not keep track of your energy balance.
For example, if you eat 2000 calories less than you normally would over 6 days, but on day 7 aka cheat day you eat a 2400 calorie pizza plus some ice cream, you’ve undone all your weight loss progress AND made matters worse as well..
I cover in this video all of the ways in which cheat days can help make a diet easier, but can also make it a lot harder if not done correctly. I also discuss some of the alternatives you can do, such as just having a doughnut every now and then with your healthy dinner and being happy with your decision (and most importantly not being guilty around it).
