Lapsi Recipe is a Gujarati sweet dish made healthy with broken wheat, sweetened with jaggery. Here I used sprouted wheat. A classic sweet dish made in all Gujarati households be it an occasion or just because.
Broken wheat is rich in fiber and jaggery is rich in vitamins and minerals making lapsi a very nutritive sweet. It is often made during festivals like Dhanteras, Diwali, Raksha Bandhan, Holi, Janmashtami, etc. It is considered an auspicious signal hence it is made for pre-wedding ceremonies. Many make it on any special occasion like birthdays, buying a new car/house, getting a job. That time lapsi is offered to God first and then eaten by family members.

Not only in Gujarat but lapsi also widely made in other western states of India like Rajasthan and Maharastra. The procedure and ingredients are slightly changed here and there like sugar or jaggery as a sweetener, milk or water etc.

Region by Region it has different names. Fadani lapsi in Gujarati, cracked wheat sheera or Dalia sheera or Lapshi in Marathi.

This wheat dessert is so good and definitely a sweet that both young and old alike with love.
