Spicy Poha Dal Dumplings | Aval Recipe | No Oil Healthy Snack | Udupi Style – The Fine Chop

Ingredients:
• Thick Red Aval/Poha (thick beaten rice) – 2 cups
• Toor dal /Pigeon peas – 1/4 cup
• Chana dal/Bengal gram – 1/4 cup
• Shredded coconut – 1/2 cup
• Green chilli – 3
• Coriander leaves – 1tbsp
• Curry leaves – 2 springs
• Ginger – 1-inch piece
• Asafetida – 2 pinch
• Salt to taste
• Water

Preparation:
First soak the Toor Dal and Chana Dal for 4 hours.
After soaking, in a mixer grinder jar add the soaked dal, coconut, greenchilli, ginger, curry leaves, asafetida, coriander leaves.
Grind into thick paste no need to add any water while grinding.
Soak the Poha for ½ an hour.
Drain the Poha.
In a mixing bowl, add the drained Poha and grinded dal mixture and add required amount of salt and 3 table spoon of water.
Now take a big oval shaped dal and spice mixture and prepare dumplings using your palms.
Make sure the mixture doesn’t have cracks.
Now arrange the dumplings in a steamer (idli steamer) and steam dumplings for 15 minutes in medium flame.
Now the dumplings are ready to serve with garlic tomato chutney.
