Kalabasa Loaf Bread (with music version)

Hey lovelies~! Here’s a healthy bread recipe for you to try. This is a simple and easy Kalabasa (Squash) Loaf Bread recipe. You can also convert this to a Kalabasa Pandesal- just shape them and add bread crumbs! I’ve tried it and it works since this recipe is pretty basic 😀

How to Make Tinapay na Kalabasa / Squash Bread
Loaf Pan: 22.8 x 12.7 cm (9 x 5 inches)
Preheated Oven: 175°C (350°F)
Bake Time: 30 – 40 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

130 g (1/2 cup) KALABASA/SQUASH, BOILED & MASHED
148 ml (1/2 cup + 2 tbsp) MILK, LUKEWARM *I used Evaporated Milk here but you can use whatever milk you prefer
5 g (1 1/2 tsp) INSTANT DRY YEAST
300 g (2 1/2 cups) + extra flour for kneading, ALL PURPOSE FLOUR OR BREAD FLOUR *I used All Purpose Flour here but I recommend using bread flour if you can. Use a scale to weigh your flour but if you’re using measuring cups, DO NOT scoop flour from the container using your measuring cup. Use a spoon to scoop the flour into your measuring cup and use a knife or any straight object to level the flour across the measuring cup.
2 g (1/2 tsp) SALT
100 g (1/2 cup) SUGAR
55 g (1/4 cup) BUTTER, SOFTENED *use either salted or unsalted, I don’t really taste the difference
15 ml (1 tbsp) VEGETABLE OIL
EGG WASH, OPTIONAL *1 egg + 2 tbsp water

*1st Rise: 40 minutes – 1 1/2 hour
*Proof: 30 – 60 minutes
*Please take note that Bread Flour will rise faster than All Purpose Flour
