Today’s recipe is Chicken Shashlik. Saucy Chicken Shashlik is an Indo-Chinese recipe that’s made with boneless chicken and coated in a sweet and spicy gravy. The origin of this recipe is actually from the shahslik kababs and which is alternatively known as sheesh kabab and has been part of Central Asian food culture for thousands of years, with variations of this dish being popular with the Romans. It is very easy to cook at home with basic ingredients and it is finger licking tasty. As health is our first concern and we don’t want anyone to compromise taste over health so we are here to share our low calorie recipes and we hope that you would like trying our recipes. INGREDIENTS:
CHICKEN SHASHLIK:
*STEP 1 Marinate the Chicken*
– 700g Chicken boneless (cut in cubes)
– 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic (Adrak Lehsan)
– ½ tbsp black pepper
– 1 tbsp Red chili flakes
– 1 tsp Salt
– ½ tsp Sugar
– 1 tbsp Vinegar
– 3 tbsp Soy sauce
Process: In this step marinate the chicken with all the spices written above for 30 minutes
*STEP 2 Cook the Meat*
Process: In this step cook the marinated meat without any oil. Cook until the water dries and the meat is well cooked.
*STEP 3 Prepare the Vegetables*
– 1 tbsp Oil
– 1 large Onions (cut in cubes)
– 1 large Green Bell-paper (without seeds, cut in cubes)
– 2 medium Tomatoes (without seeds, cut in cubes)
Process: In this step heat the oil and add all the vegetable and cook it for 1-2 minutes. Note that do not overcook the vegetables. Otherwise vegetables will become soggy and release the water.
*STEP 4 Chili paste*
– 2 Whole Red chilies
– 3 cups water
Process: In this step heat the water and boil the red chilies for 10 minutes and then blend it until smooth splashing a little water to it while blending.
*STEP 5 Assembling*
– 2 cloves crushed Garlic
– 2 blended Tomatoes
– 3 tbsp Ketchup
– 1 tbsp Soy sauce
– Salt to taste
– 1 tbsp Red chili flakes
– ½ tsp Black pepper powder
– 1 cup water
– 1 tbsp Corn flour (mix in 2 tbsp cup water)
Process: In this step fry crushed garlic in 2 tbsp of oil until light brown and add tomato paste and above spices and prepare chili paste. Give it a good mix and add water and the corn flour mixed in water finely. While adding the cornflour into the soup keep stirring the soup until thicken and bring it to boil. Now add the prepared vegetables and meat and Chicken shashlik is ready, Enjoy it with low fat rice.
NOTE: Herbs and spices are used to add flavor to foods and they are extremely low in calories.
