For Masala Paste:
Cinnamon sticks 2-3
Ginger 1
Fennel seeds 1 tsp
Cloves 2
Garlic 4-5 pods
Shallots(Sambar onion) 5
Coriander leaves some
Mint leaves some
Water 2 tbsp
For Rice
Soaked Cowpeas 1/2 cup
Oil 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Fennel seeds 1 tsp
Onion 1 finely chopped
Some curry leaves
Tomatoes 3 finely chopped
Red chilli powder 2 tsp
Cumin powder 1 tsp
Coriander powder 1 tsp
Washed & Soaked rice 1 1/2 cups
Salt for taste
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Water 5 cups
Some coriander leaves for garnishing
