Welcome back to my channel, @SelfMadeCook . Today, we’re reimagining traditional tacos with a healthy and refreshing twist – Healthy Pita Bread Tacos! With whole grain pita bread as our base and a tangy Greek yogurt or avocado sauce in place of sour cream, we’re all set to enjoy a summer favorite without the guilt.
Ingredients:
For the pita bread tacos:
4 whole grain pita breads
2 chicken breasts
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup shredded lettuce
For the fresh salsa:
2 large ripe tomatoes, diced
1 small onion, diced
1 jalapeno, diced
A handful of fresh cilantro, finely chopped
Juice of 1 lime
Salt to taste
For the avocado sauce:
2 ripe avocados
2 cloves of garlic
Juice of 1 lime
A handful of fresh cilantro
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
To assemble these tasty tacos, spread the avocado sauce on the pita bread, layer shredded lettuce and chicken strips, and finally top with the fresh salsa. Perfect for a light summer meal!
