Hello what’s up welcome back to a brand new dinner video today I’m going to share with you a $4 dinner that’s super hearty that makes six servings so that brings each serving or what I like to call a meal out to be around 66 C so if

You’re feeding your family I think this is a really great idea I get so many questions on meal ideas to do with lentils so hopefully this helps you out if you have some lentils in your pantry that you want to use up do me a huge

Favor give this video a huge thumbs up make sure you’re subscribed and let’s get into today’s dinner okay we’re about to get down with another cheap dinner let me run through the ingredients this is all that I’m using besides water and a little bit of salt that’s it you can

Add any additional seasonings that you want if you have some homemade veggie broth that you want to add to this that would even amp up the flavor I don’t have any on hand right now so I’m not using it so for the main dish we are using 12 ounces of lentils which was

A125 two carrots two celery 40 cents each um for the two which I got them in bulk which I actually really really liked I got an onion for 50 a can of tomato sauce for a dollar I’m using all of those ingredients as far as this goes

I looked at going and just getting exactly what I needed for the bread recipe but I wanted to let you know that if I got the big bag of flour compared to the small B of flour it would only cost me 62 to make a loaf of bread so

I’m using three cups of this allpurpose flour and then one uh well it’s not even serving it’s one teaspoon of this yeast and together that is 40 cents for the flour and 20 cents for the yeast I can usually find yeast even cheaper but this

Is just what I had to work with and that loaf of bread will cost me 62 in total I can make six loaves of bread with this flour that I have on hand and I can make even more I mean even have any more servings of yeast because there’s 33

Servings of yeast in there for bread so I can make 33 loaves with that and sticks with this anyways this is the ingredients for today’s Meal which brings me to a total of $417 for dinner and I’ll see how many like servings I like to call servings

Meals we’ll explain that at the end we’ll see how many it makes but right now my total is $417 first thing I need to do is get my bread going because I’m going to let this sit for a little while to kind of proof this is an instant yeast so you

Don’t have to let it sit overnight or anything if you’re using a different type of yeast you might have to but this is usually ready to go really quickly so I take a large bowl and add 3 cups of flour sprinkle in a teaspoon of yeast

And sprinkle in a little salt I would say like a/4 to a/ teaspoon you don’t have to let the yeast Blossom unless you really want to it works fine either way I tell you this is the easiest loaf of bread you’re ever going to make it’s

Delicious I have a half a cup and a half of warm water about like it sounds weird to say this because like I feel like everybody takes like a bath at different temperature but you want it to be warm not hot not boiling and as you can see

The bread is already coming together and I did not add all my water yet I like to add my water a little out of time because depending on the temperature the humidity the dryness in the air it might take a little more or a little less

Water so if you mix it up slowly it is so much easier to see the consistency of your bread as you can see this is like super sticky now I would say it has plenty of water and I did not use all of my water I

Still have a little bit in there I’m not going to use it but this feels really good to me it’s sticky but not too sticky it’s perfect and we’re just going to let this sit for about 30 minutes with a towel over it and then it’ll kind

Of get a little bit bigger I usually just set my bread off to this side and like I said I cover it with a clean tea towel it’s clean even though it looks dirty it’s just an old one and I just let it sit while I’m getting the rest of

The meal ready and then I will put this in the oven I’ll show you what I do with that next n okay I got my Dutch oven here I’m going to put this on a medium high heat I love this Dutch oven I’ll link it

Down below so you guys can check it out every house should have a dutch oven one necessity I don’t think you need an air fryer or any fancy tools but you should have a dutch oven okay so we’re putting all the Mison plaws into the pot

Adding a little salt and I’m going to water sauté these if I had veggie broth on hand and ready to go I would use veggie broth but I’m just using some water and I get asked often why I don’t use pepper I dislike pepper so much I

Don’t even like the smell of pepper so I don’t use pepper in my cooking if you like pepper use pepper use whatever seasonings you like but I get that question all the time so I thought I would mention it cuz I mentioned it here there so we’re just going to sauté these

Cook them up until the onions are translucent and then we’ll add the tomatoes and I’m going to rinse off my lentils right now I thought I would add a couple ways that you could actually make this meal even cheaper as you saw I just bought two sticks of celery two

Carrots I bought the lentils at the Dollar Tree I did not get a lot of items in bulk if you are someone who wants to save a lot of money buy your items in bulk buying a five or 10 lb bag of carrots would actually make the price

Cheaper per pound but I actually went and seen like if I could make it by just buying the singular ingredients for how cheap so a really great way to save money is to buy things in bulk I know at wico foods I can personally get lentils

In bulk for about 69 cents a pound when they’re on sale which is about half the price so if you are someone who has a bulk store near you wico Foods is awesome CU you can buy things in bulk um I think you can buy carrots now up to 40

Lbs at a time which is incredible so if you can buy things in bigger quantities it’ll save you a lot of money okay time to start the bread this stew is just cooking through the veggies right now I am going to turn my oven on to

450° since I am using my Dutch oven and I only have the one most often I will bake my bread in this but you can do it a plethora of different ways I’m doing the double bread pan method which I’m going to share with you today you can

Also do a glass baking dis dish if you want to um something that has a lid if you don’t have a lid you can use a piece of aluminum foil as a lid but this is actually my favorite if I’m using my Dutch oven so we’re taking these and

We’re taking one of them and we’re going to preheat it with our oven the reason we preheat it is so it’s nice and warm and the bread doesn’t stick so you don’t need any oil or anything so we’re just going to throw it in there close it up

And the bread will be ready to go once the oven is preheated it’s been a while since I’ve made bread but it is my favorite thing to do I’m going to to go ahead and flour my Surface a little bit because my bread is a little bit sticky

We didn’t let it rise too much but it is actually perfect and this bread doesn’t really need to like supervise but you can see it’s super sticky so I’m just kind of like getting my hand with some flour and then going in for the dough I

Like to do this because it makes it a little less messy for the cleanup get my hands nice and Flowery this is a great great bread to make if you’ve never made bread before um I’ve been seeing a lot of like sourdough recipes and people ask me why I don’t

Make sourd dough I actually don’t love the taste of sourdough now I do eat gluten-free for the most part there are certain things that I can now tolerate with pregnancy I’ve been getting this question a lot because for almost 3 years I’ve been sharing just gluten-free

Recipes and if I make bread or something it’s um for my husband so there the bread is ready to go as you saw I just kind of like folded it it and now I’m just going to put this in the pan when it’s ready to go okay to continue on

With the bread conversation because I get this question often especially right now because I am sharing a lot more less or a lot more glutenous meals versus gluten-free for whatever reason and I talked to my OB about this during pregnancy your body and your hormones can change and I was flaring up and

Having signs of gluten in tolerance with my gut health years ago it could have also been because I was very very stress strict on what I was eating I was eating a very strict Whole Food plant-based diet and so anytime I had anything of gluten it could cause a flare up because

My gut just wasn’t digesting it I no longer eat as clean as I used to because I want to personally heal my relationship with food I don’t want it to be so black and white I want to be the person that kind of lives in the middle so I started eating more gluten

Items in my first trimester because I was so sick and I noticed that I wasn’t having the same issues as I was years ago so this is my first time making this bread pregnant and I will let you know down below if I could tolerate it or not

But I’ve actually had a lot of people tell me that they had gluten flare ups or gluten intolerances or different things with gluten for many years and then all of a sudden they were able to introduce it back in so I wanted to just clarify yeah I’m eating gluten I’m not

Eating a lot I would say like two to three times a week I have a little bit of gluten and I have like less than a whole serving and I just kind of go based on how I feel and so far so good so it’s my first time making this bread

But don’t worry it’ll never go to waste because my husband he eats everything and anything so if I can’t eat it he will eat it and the best way to eat this bread honestly is the next day toasted in your toaster with a little bit of jam

On top so good so good and if you’re wondering how I store it I just put it in a paper bag and leave it on my countertop and it stays good for about a week if it’ll last a week at your house all right vegetables are almost done I’m

Going to add a little bit more water and cook them down until they’re super super tender and then I’ll share with you what I’m going to do next because we’re not leaving the vegetables like this well not all of them okay these are cooked to my liking I have my mini food processor

Here that is portable and I’m going to add a couple scoops of them in here like this much it’s kind of getting foggy Max fill I think is a cup and a half so it’s about that then to this we’re going to add our rinsed lentils I

Just rinsed them in cold water you can also soak them if you want to totally up to you don’t soak them for too long cuz they’ll start to sprout but if you soak them it does make them super nice and clean mix those around a little bit add Our tomato

Sauce and then as you can see in this can of tomato sauce there’s some on the side so I’m going to fill it up with water add it back in one two this pot is going to be super full and then we’re going to give this a

Little stir leave the lid off we’re going to bring it to a boil okay have our veggies here we’re going to just mix them up really quick with this blender it’s just going to thicken it up a little bit and then you get a little bite of everything and it just adds

Different textures I saw someone do this with chicken noodle soup on Tik Tok and now I’m like upset OB with doing it to all of my soups with a Mison pla like adding a little bit of puree cuz it does add a really nice texture because I have

This food processor I can put hot items in here and it’s totally fine unlike a regular food processor cuz it’s glass and it’s fine but I know regular food processor sometimes it will leak so that’s why I put it in here all right ooh give this a good mix and then bring

This to a boil once it comes to a boil you’re going to put the lid on put it on low for about 30 to 35 minutes until those lentil are completely cooked it’s so nice and thick right now it’s going to be absolutely delicious while I was

Doing the stew the oven beep to preheat so we’re going to go ahead and take our pan out of here and put it on the top of the stove you just have to remember which one’s the hot one plop our bread in it put the lid on

All right we’re going to put the lid on this it’s starting to come to a boil and turn the heat down to low and my bread is in the oven for 30 minutes so we’ll check on this again in 30 minutes just make sure it’s on low and the lids on so

It doesn’t boil over um this will Pro this should most likely take the same amount of time this is in for 30 minutes and then lit off for 15 and this will just sit and cook for like 30 to 35 and it can just sit on the stove while the

Bread is finishing timer just went off of my bread so we’re going to end that we’re also going to check this which is just cook in away get nice and thick oh yeah that feels so nice when you stir it I love thick stews but you could definitely get a bigger pot

And add more broth if you want to but this is going to be super hearty so this has been cooking for 30 minutes I’m going to give it a little test to see where we’re at with the tenderness of the lentils it’s perfect so I’m going to

Go ahead and put the lid on this that’s hot turn the heat off and push it back to the side and now we have to get our bread out hopefully I can get out with one hand because it’s double lied all right it smells so good there smells so good there’s literally nothing

Better smelling than this spread okay we’re going to put this loaf back in for 15 minutes without a lid going ahead and added a little bit more water to my stew so that you guys can see that because it did soak up into the lentils quite a bit and I want a little

I want a little broth I mean I want it to be thick and Hearty but I want a little broth and then we’re just going to add the lid back on I thought I’d show you how easy this comes out of the pan because I feel like

People are going to ask anyways it literally just sides out so the heated pan if you’re using any kind of Dutch oven glass container preheat it and comes right out and this is a little bit smaller aaf I could have let it rise for a couple more hours but uh we want to

Eat lunch thank you so much as always for watching today’s video I hope you really enjoyed it like I said make sure you’re subscribed and I’ll see you Sunday in a brand new video bye-bye
