– Let me ask y’all something. Do y’all like breakfast for dinner sometimes? I know we do. Sometimes nothing will do, but I have to make pancakes and bacon for dinner and it’s so good. Or just grits and eggs. Love it, love it. Well, this recipe, I sure wish I’d have thought about it.

I had house guests this weekend, Bubbles and her husband Phil came over and spent the weekend. And darn, I wish I’d thought about making this for our breakfast, because it’s one of those easy to do things and it’s delicious and just pop it in the oven, and just pop it in the oven

And you’re still free to visit and talk and chat and have your coffee and all that stuff. So this is an egg casserole. It’s got half and half, it’s got Gruyere cheese, Parmesan cheese, dry mustard, house seasoning. We’re gonna make a sauce with the flour and the butter.

So we’re gonna start by melting our butter. And then we’re gonna add our flour and we gonna cook that. And we’re not doing a, you know, like a, a rube or anything. It’s just we only gonna cook that flour and that butter for just a couple of minutes, just to incorporate it good.

And this dish is made with hard boiled eggs. So if you’re a hard boiled egg lover, you’re gonna like this. So we’re gonna cut our eggs long ways and we’re gonna put ’em in upside down in our dish. I love a boiled egg. And then I’m gonna add my flour.

And I’m using my whisk, y’all, to try to get any of the lumpy, lumpy lumps out of it. ‘Cause we want our sauce smooth. So now I’m gonna start by slowly adding our half and half. So this is where you have to kind of be careful,

’cause you’ll get some lumps back in it. So like I said, we’re just going to kind of slowly incorporate that so I can control the lumping. All right, now we’re gonna add our seasonings. I’m gonna add our dry mustard, our house seasoning, which is, you know what that is?

Salt, pepper, garlic, and onion powder. Now this is the base and you can add anything you want to to it. You know, I think, like mushrooms would be real good in it. All right, now I’m gonna add our Gruyere air cheese. And I’m a big fan of Gruyere.

But again, you know, use your, use whatever your favorites are. All right, here we go. We’re gonna pour our sauce on top of our eggs. And like I said, this would be so good on top of some grits. Why are grits just a Southern thing, you think? Well, it’s, you know,

It’s really considered a poor man’s food. You can fill up a family on a pot of grits for literally pennies, y’all. All right, gonna put a little arm on the top. And it’s gonna get brown, so. If I had some spring onions or green onions, I would.. I hope I sprayed this.

I don’t think I did. But darn, it looks good. Biscuits, grits, and egg casserole. Wow. To you, Therese. – [Therese] Going into the oven for 20 minutes, I believe. – Yes, it says 20 to 30, but that sauce is very, very, very hot. So I’d say 15 to 20 minutes. You know, just until it’s bubbly, kind of brown on top. Piping hot.

It’s a wonder I got any skin in my mouth. All the years. You know, I told y’all that I have burned my fingerprints off my fingers. I had to go get my fingerprints for our beer and wine liquor license for the restaurant. – [Therese] They laughed. – He couldn’t find my prints.

They said, “They are gone, honey.” I said, “Yeah, I burned those suckers off long time ago.” So if you want me to go finger something for you, I’m your girl. (laughs) ‘Cause it won’t leave any fingerprints. I was kidding, though, about that. Mm. Mm-mm-mm. So good. So, so good. Mm! Breakfast, brunch, or dinner. Little pot of grits and some nice sliced, ripe tomatoes with a little of.. Oh, I’m just in love with my Blood Orange Olive Oil. In fact, I cooked fish last night and sprinkled it with Blood Orange Olive Oil, and it was so delicious. So grits, egg casserole, sliced tomatoes

With a little salt, pepper, and olive oil. So until tomorrow. I’ll see y’all then. Love and best dishes to you. Hey, y’all, it’s Paula Deen. Now, if you enjoyed this video, be sure to like it and click the subscribe button as well as the notification
