Recipe Modifications To Add Volume



At Healthy Steps Nutrition we recommend the Plate Method, ½ plate NS veggies, ¼ protein, ¼ starch, and a bit of healthy fats.

Sometimes recipes need modifications to add an additional volume of non-starchy vegetables.

Take a look at a couple of your favorite recipes, and assess whether they include a full 2 cups of non-starchy veggies per serving. If not, get creative by adding extra veggies on the side OR cook them into the recipe to add valuable volume and nutrients!
