This Ganesh Chaturthi give these delicious Fried Modak a try. 

Ingredients
1½ cup (200g) whole wheat flour/atta
½ cup (70g) refined flour/maida
2 tablespoons clarified butter/ghee
water as required
2 tablespoons clarified butter/ghee
2 cups (200g) fresh grated coconut
1 cup jaggery/gud
5-6 cashews roughly chopped
5-6 almonds roughly chopped
2 tablespoons raisins
1 teaspoon cardamom/elachai powder
oil for frying

Steps to Make Fried Modak

1. Dough: Mix whole wheat flour, refined flour, and hot ghee. Add water gradually, knead 5–6 mins to form a stiff dough. Add 1 tsp ghee, knead again, cover, and rest 10 mins.

2. Filling: Heat ghee, roast grated coconut for 1 min. Add jaggery, cook till it melts (avoid excess moisture). Mix in almonds, cashews, raisins, and cardamom. Let it cool down. 

3. Shaping: Roll dough into a chapati, cut small rounds. Place 1 tbsp filling in the center, wet edges with some water, fold as shown in the video and shape into modaks, and seal well.

4. Frying: Deep fry in ghee/oil 7–8 mins till golden. Drain on tissue and serve hot.
