Moong Dal Tikki is an easy healthy recipe made with a combination of dal and vegetables means protein & fibre rich recipe, a must try as a tea time snacks specially in winters and rainy seasons- A healthier version of deep fried tikkis as these are cooked in minimal oil – Best recipe for the mothers who want to pack something tasty & healthy for the tiffin – For more healthier version, sprouted moong can be used – “Health bhi taste bhi” DISH : MOONG DAL TIKKI SERVES : READY 8 PIECES CUISINE : INDIAN VEGETARIAN COURSE : SNACKS, STARTERS …..INGREDIENTS…. 1 cup moong dal (yellow split dal)1/4 cup each of capsicum, grated carrot, paneer & boiled peas 1/4 cup chopped onion – optional 1 tsp chaat masala / amchoor powder 1 tsp red chilli powder 2 tsp ginger 2 tsp green chillies 1 tbsp fresh coriander leaves Salt – to taste 2 tbsp corn flour 2 tbsp Oil ……DIRECTIONS…. 1. Soak moong dal for at least 4-6 hours, strain for 1/2 hour, grind into coarse paste without adding water 2. Add all the ingredients to the ground moong dal 3. Shape them into round flat balls / discs 4. Heat a non stick pan, medium heat 5. Add prepared tikis to the medium hot tawa 6. Apply little oil, flip over after 2-3 minutes, cook from other side too to a golden brown colour 7. Remove from heat 8. Serve hot with green chutney / tomato ketchup DO’s & DON’Ts 1. For a coarse moong dal paste, don’t add water otherwise will be difficult to shape tikis 2. Blanch peas and then strain it for 1/2 hour to remove all excess water 3. If tikis paste is very soft / loose, it won’t take shape, add 1 tsp corn flour more 4. If tikis coarse paste is loose, after mixing all ingredients keep the bowl in the fridge for 1/2 hour
